| Please note that I have tried to make several attempts to resolve this peacefully with the rental owner but he has refused to contact me or listen to my concerns. We rented this cottage for our wedding weekend and unfortunately this rental was not a safe haven for our wedding party to relax before a hectic weekend.
The biggest concern we had was with the BBQ!In the contract, it states that it should be cleaned and maintained by each guest but when we opened it up, it looks like it has never been taken care of. When we arrived, it was covered in food and grease. We tried to scrub it with the tools that were given to us but none of it was coming off and the tools were broken. We were to host our guests for a BBQ dinner and we couldn't because the BBQ started to smoke and then flames were so high that it was unsafe to continue. We also couldn't find a fire extinguisher anywhere!
When we arrived the rental was not thoroughly cleaned properly. The kitchen floors were sticky. There were towels left in the washer. The windows have not been cleaned in a while as they are covered in cobwebs and insects. There was also dog poop in the grass and broken glass near the dock. Be careful in the bathrooms. The showers in the basement are not properly sealed and will pool water on the floor. The sink faucets are also loose. The primary bathroom's shower is full of soap scum and won't properly give enough shower pressure.
The rental was such a headache for the price it is asking.
