Thanks Rob!

Such an honour to host you and Jessica for your honeymoon! Thanks so much for being such an amazing guest and also taking such great care of my cottage during your holiday.

Honeymoons at the cottage and also surprise proposals.... I can't think of a more perfect place than at the lake! Thanks so much for choosing our cottage for your very special celebration!

I'm so thrilled that this sounds like it may become your new annual tradition! Can't wait to host you again next year Rob!! You are always welcome back. :)

Laura

My family and I just spent 2 weeks at the cottage on Bitter Lake and had a fantastic time. The cottage and property are beautiful. Large grassy lawn with an amazing big fire pit to enjoy star gazing and marshmallow roasting. Surrounded by trees so you feel very private. The cottage had everything we needed to be comfortable. It was incredibly clean and organized . The bathrooms were new and beautiful. Towels and linens provided made packing so easy. Just took our food and clothes. We drank the water from the tap and it was wonderful. The deck midway between the cottage and dock was a nice added sitting area where we would take our lunch and a drink as it gets amazing sun in the afternoon. The dock was large enough for 4 adults and our dog to sit comfortably. The ladder into the water was great for those is us that can't jump right in. The lake itself is great . The water felt clean and refreshing. As the lake is not super large, there was not a lot of boat traffic, which was wonderful. Having the use of the 2 kayaks and 2 waterboards really enhanced our time as it was nice to get onto the water and paddle and explore the lake a bit. Laura has thought of everything that you need to arrive and settle in quickly and start enjoying your vacation. We even had a s'mores kit and doggy treats for our fur baby. If you are looking for an updated, clean , comfortable cottage on a beautiful property and lake I would highly recommend. Laura is a thoughtful and responsive hostess.

Thanks so much Deborah! It was such a pleasure to host your family holiday. I love that you enjoyed all the outdoor spaces... this is exactly how I spend my time at the cottage as well. And yes, agree, the lot is quite private which helps guests to be able to really relax and enjoy their holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's great being nestled among the trees like this. So healing and relaxing too.

Please come visit us again Deborah. And thank-you for taking such great care of the cottage during your stay. You are always welcome at the lake!

Warmly
Laura

We had a fantastic week at H2H cottage. Nice lake and lots of fun on the water with the provided paddle board amd kayaks. The cottage is cozy and beautifully decorated. Laura truly has thought of everything to make her guests feel comfortable. Would definitely return!

Thanks so much Giselle!

Great to hear you enjoyed our 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks during your stay! Agree - Bitter Lake is so fun to explore!! Sunsets on the dock are simply amazing as well.

And so thrilled you loved our decor! We really appreciate that. We newly renovated this spring, both bathrooms are completely new and so fresh and modern. A real treat while at the lake. We like to think of it as kind of a rustic yet luxurious mix of decor... you still feel like you are at a cottage, but have all the comforts of home and more. ;) Kind of a mix of boho, Hygge, contemporary and rustic too!! Perfect cozy combo for sure.

Thanks for being such a great guest and for leaving my cottage clean and tidy as well! This is always so appreciated and welcome. You are welcome back to the lake anytime

Warmly,
Laura

We spent an wonderful two weeks at Laura's cottage and highly recommend it! Laura has done an amazing job in setting you up for an excellent holiday. The description she's provided of the cottage says it all. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. The cottage is cozy and rustic but also has updated and modern amenities. Just enough basic supplies are provided that we weren't rushing out to buy things (so helpful and also less
wasteful). The interior and landscaping create a cozy cottage vibe. Bitter lake is a smaller lake (but big enough!) with friendly people. There is minimal boat traffic and boat operators were very respectful. There is lots to do in the area, and if you choose to stay in there are paddle boards and kayaks at the cottage. For the first time in
3 years I felt I truly "relaxed" and am grateful for time spent at Laura's cottage. We hope to visit again in the future.

"For the first time in 3 years I felt I truly "relaxed" and am grateful for time spent at Laura's cottage. We hope to visit again in the future."

Two weeks is a perfect amount of time to settle in and really unwind and move into 'cottage mode'. So happy you were able to find two back to back weeks available to book. What a treat!!

I love that you found our cottage beautiful and relaxing.. I have to be honest. Me too. And it means so much when others get to feel that as well. This is part of the joy of sharing this space with guests to experience for their holiday. It's what makes it all worthwhile.

I hope to see you again next year JoAnne, it has truly been a pleasure. You were a joy to host and are welcome back to the lake anytime!

Warmly,
Laura

Our stay at Laura's cottage at Bitter Lake was very pleasant. Her cottage is tastefully decorated and spacious and well landscaped.
This property is best suited for adults and older children. I came with 3 adults and my two year old grandchild. There are many steps to the lake and access to the water is from the dock with no shallow entry for toddlers and small children. Half way down the slope there is a nicely designed enclosed deck with a view of the lake.
As an avid swimmer, I truly enjoyed long comfortable swims unimpeded by weeds and without much boat traffic.
There is no air conditioning but a good cross breeze on the main floor.
The dock overlooks gorgeous sunsets and the setting is serene. Roasting marshmallows at the fire pit under the gazebo offered a great conclusion to our stay. Laura is a very attentive and welcoming host!

Owner response:
Awe, thanks so much Liz!! And it was such a pleasure to host you, your adult kids, and your adorable 15 month-old baby grandson for your first ever cottage holiday too! I understand that it can be scary renting a waterfront cottage for the first time and I'm thrilled that you loved the experience so much. It was my pleasure to help you to settle in and have a lovely time!

It is so important to me that my guests have an amazing cottage experience and that they are a good fit for my place. So as always, I was happy to communicate as much as needed beforehand to ease any concerns for your trip preparation and packing, sending you numerous extra photos and videos as you had requested to show the entire property inside and out top to bottom so that you would know the layout and landscaping and exactly what to expect when you arrived. The large grassy lawn to play on, the gazebo firepit area, the enclosed decks for safety for your grandsons rolling chair, recommendations for jogging nearby, and also the shape and dimensions of my lake for your swimming adventures, even the 16 granite steps and the boardwalk leading down the short slope to the dock. To confirm for you that I do have a washer and dryer, will also provide all linens and towels and even to leave you extra beach towels on request just to be sure you had enough. I want my guests to be able to just arrive and settle in and enjoy their holiday, so this is important to me.

So happy you found my cottage cool and comfortable, even on hot summer days, this is why the air conditioning is not so important here at the lake like it can be in the city.

The walk-in water access is beside the oar-house, where the kayaks and paddle boards are launched. You can easily walk in there with little ones. I wish you had have asked, I'm surprised you didn't notice it? We had friends up a few weeks ago and we all walked in that way with the littles ;) So much fun!

Thanks so much for sending the gorgeous photo of the sunrise from the dock! I hope you do end up painting it as you plan to! It is truly a stunning way to enjoy your morning coffee.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer Liz, and it was an honour to host your very first family cottage holiday!

Warmly
Laura
