This wonderful family cottage is located on Beaver Lake, a quiet, clean and weed-free lake that is part of the 7-lake Catchacoma system. It is perfect for swimming, boating or just hanging out on the dock and watching the loons swim past. Our property also directly borders Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, and provides easy access to an additional 375 square kilometers of preserved wilderness, lakes and hiking trails. The cottage is about a 30 minute drive north from Buckhorn, or 35 minutes north-east of Bobcaygeon. Our cottage property has 200+ feet of shoreline, a grassed area for the kids to play, and multiple deck areas to optimize your access to the sun, shade or privacy. There is a cozy screened-in porch, great for getting out of the sun, or for sipping on a glass of wine in the evening while enjoying the fresh air. The cottage itself is only a few feet from the waters edge, with easy access to the dock, and providing great views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. The master bedroom is definitely a feature, and overlooks the lake from the second floor with a king size bed and ensuite with shower. There are 2 smaller but comfortable bedrooms on the main floor with double beds. There is also an additional detached sleeping cabin with 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) which is a nice option for guests(kids?) that are looking for some space/ solitude away from the main cottage(parents?).
The cottage features a large gourmet kitchen fully equipped with an induction range, large island, and every imaginable small appliance - from a KitchenAid mixer to an ice cream maker!
Our cottage is newly equipped with a TV and Wifi, and there is decent cellular coverage from both Bell and Rogers, but hopefully you'll enjoy the bookshelves filled with books, puzzles and board games, and the sound of the loons calling from across the lake.
Other details: Cozy wood burning fireplace Well trained pets are welcome, but should be restrained and kept on the property at all times. A kayak and canoe are available for guest use.

| Our family had a wonderful stay @ Sommerville Cottage, and the views were spectacular. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and the pantry cupboards are stocked with most every ingredient you'll need in case you forgot some baking supplies! Our teenagers loved the bunkie, as it gave them some private space, and the 3 seasons reading room was a relaxing spot for morning devotions and the occasional nap!
The master bedroom was the centerpiece of the cottage, with spectacular panoramic views and a spacious layout. The dock is large enough for a few people to relax and chill, while the kids jump off the dock for water fun. The lake is very calm and links to 5-6 other lakes in the area, with great fishing and boating/water sports access (just watch for areas with marked rocks and you'll be fine!).
The Somervilles were a pleasure to work with and responded in a timely manner to any questions we had (both during booking stage, as well as during our stay). It really was the perfect family get away spot, as most of the cottages on the lake were also family-friendly (no late night parties and jerk boaters!).
