Gull River Retreat for family, friends couples to enjoy all year-round. 2 hour drive from Toronto- This amazing Kawartha 4 season waterfront cottage on the shores of Gull River/ Shadow Lake will provide you with a picture-perfect cottage getaway. Located on an elevated property that will give you the best view around with the most amazing sunsets full of color and the clearest nights for stargazing.
Gull River Retreat just outside of Norland Ontario offers views of Shadow Lake and Gull River. Take a sip of your morning coffee while you enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful Kawartha Lakes. Roast marshmallows around the campfire in a large private fenced in yard or have a glass of wine at night outside on the deck protected by folding mosquito screens. Walk down the stairs to your private dock and take the kayaks out on the water. Plan a day trip and kayak out to Shadow Lake; a short distance from the cottage.
Central location- 5 minute drive to Norland, 10 minutes to Coboconk or Kinmount, 20 minutes to Minden or 35 minutes to Bobcaygeon or Lindsay. Close to lovely little towns with shopping, restaurants, beaches, hiking, biking, skating, snowmobiling, ATVing, snowshoing, cross country skiing, fishing and wildlife watching.
The Cottage
Gull River Retreat built in 2013 is a newer cozy cottage with 2 bedrooms, a loft with a pullout couch, 1 bathroom and an extraordinary outdoor space. Fenced in property for your furry friend while providing privacy for your enjoyment. Watch the wildlife from your large deck or stroll down to your personal waterfront space and go for a dip. 4 season enjoyment for the summer or winter enthusiasts!
Central air conditioning and propane furnace for those hot or cold days, clean water with a UV filtration system- We still Recommend bringing drinking water but it is safe.
The main floor offers a master bedroom with a queen sized bed, a 2nd bedroom with a queen sized bed and a large loft with a pullout couch. 1 bathroom, fully equipped open concept kitchen and livingroom space with cathedral ceilings. Cozy up at night by the modern yet rustic heated electric fireplace and watch Netflix or Disney+ on your 42" flat screen T.V with excellent Wifi signal.
We stay at the cottage and so it is fully equipped with everything you would need to enjoy a memorable retreat. The kitchen offers all cookware, dishware, glassware, coffee maker, utensils, toaster, wine opener, microwave as well as basic spices, condiments, olive oil and coffee.
There is a round breakfast/dining table off the kitchen, a tall stainless steel outdoor table, outdoor patio furniture and a picnic table. Muskoka chairs for the firepit and folding chairs for the dock.
2 kayaks and a shed equipped with lifejackets and all the necessities for a fun filled day on the river or lake.
Please note the cottage can comfortably fit a maximum of 4 people.
We provide indoor and outdoor games as well as there is lots of space for an outdoor camping experience for the kids within the safe fenced yard, lots of space around the campfire, the play structure for the little ones and space for activities, games, sports or a morning workout or yoga session.
Read a book with your coffee or wine on the large deck overlooking the Gull River. Enjoy the panoramic view of the beautiful uninterrupted vegetation. Watch an otter swim down the River or take a moment to listen to the birds.
We do have cameras and an alarm system on the property for your safety and for ours. We do not have access to view the footage as the system is on site and the cameras are only outdoors and not indoors. Your safety, enjoyment and privacy is our main concern- the surveillance and alarm system is to protect the cottage when it is vacant and to protect our guests while respecting everyone's privacy and enjoyment.
Please bring your own firewood as we do not provide and we do not offer cable T.V. Wifi with Netflix and Disney+ is provided.
There is a public boat launch just a hop skip and a jump up the road and there is our personal deck and dock for fishing, swimming, canoeing or kayaking. The swimming off the dock is excellent, fresh clean slow moving water for the entire family to enjoy! There is also a public beach and park which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. There are many other public beaches and areas to enjoy within a short driving distance.
Take a country drive in the fall and watch the changing color of the leaves, walk through a quaint small town and shop till you drop, drive to Minden to enjoy craft beer at the local brewery or venture off to Bobcaygeon and walk through the Kawartha Settlers Village. Spend a day in Minden floating down the lazy river, have a picnic in Rotary Park and grab an ice cream at the famous Kawartha Dairy. Hike on one of the many family friends trails in Balsam Provincial Park and grab a pizza at the famous Riverside Inn in Norland.
Enjoy everything summer has to offer or plan a winter retreat where you can ice fish, skate, snowshoe, cross country ski. Please bring your own winter equipment as we do not provide. Pour yourself a cup of hot apple cider and brave the elements with a winter campfire. A season for everyone to enjoy!

| What a stunning cottage by the river. The walled backyard made it an excellent space for the dogs and our young child. There was also a substantial play structure with swings and a slide.
The inside is clean and comfortable, with a loft space that can act as both a children's playroom or an additional bedroom using the sofa bed. But the star is the deck space; meals were often cooked on the BBQ and eaten outside. Coffees in the morning enjoying the view were also a highlight.
The dock is down quite a few stairs but were good exercise and the dock was worth the trek. All in all we had an amazing stay.

| Stayed here 4 nights end of July, beauty spot! Fenced yard for the dogs was magnificent. Lots of stairs to the water but the trade off was a fantastic view over the river! Very neat and new inside, everything you need to cook is there. Great covered porch and uncovered deck to hang on. Games available. Was a great time!

| We had a lovely stay at Gull River Retreat. The yard is totally private and enclosed which was great for our dog to come with us, the cottage was beautiful and nicely air conditioned, and the river was beautiful to swim and fish in. The hosts were friendly and responsive to all questions. This was a great summer getaway!

| We had the best time at Gull River Retreat, it was the perfect fit for our little family getaway. It's a great space with so much fun stuff to do - perfect for kiddos too! The river is beautiful, refreshing and peaceful - the water amenities were amazing to have. It was very clean, had everything you would need for cooking & activities - not having to worry about any of those kinds of things was such a relief! Adam was super communicative and answered all our questions very promptly. Lots of little details that were well thought out and made our stay all the more enjoyable. We will definitely be back next summer!

| We stayed at Adam's cottage and wow what a great place for a holiday. The cottage is beautiful, well equipped, and has everything you need for a great stay. Location is incredible and the lake is stunning. Adam is very responsive and happily accommodated our requests. Instructions were super clear and communication was great.
