This is a waterfront property located on the sunny shores of the north end of Rice Lake, which allows for miles of boating and fishing between Hastings and Peterborough. We are located on a year-round serviced road, only five minutes to the local village of Hastings that has a grocery, pet supply and hardware stores, LCBO, Beer Store, and several cafes and restaurants. This cottage features three cozy bedrooms, a full three-piece bathroom and a two-piece powder room, a spacious fully-stocked kitchen and a very large living room. The King and Queen bedrooms feature hand-crafted solid wood king/ queen beds and wall finishes. They are complete with premium 100% linen sheets and feather and down-filled duvets and pillows for an uncompromisingly cozy and comfortable experience. The Kids bedroom features a twin-over-double bunk bed with 100% cotton sheets and the same feather and down-filled duvets and pillows.
Our spacious and bright living room has almost floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy wood-burning stove for those cool evenings. This space is also complete with a 75-inch smart TV and a cozy play corner for your little ones. The centrally-located custom kitchen faces the bright and spacious dining room overlooking the waterfront. The dining room features a solid walnut table and a bench hand crafted by your host. Our chef?s kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials, including a large fridge, an electric stove, a microwave, a dishwasher, a selection of high-quality Lagostina cookware, a slow cooker, a rice cooker, a toaster, a kettle, a Nespresso coffee station with a wide selection of gourmet and decaf coffees, and a selection of premium organic teas. This space is also complete with high quality natural soap and cleaning products, as well as a Saje diffuser and a selection of premium Saje diffuser blends to really complete your cottage getaway experience.
Our cottage is equipped with a washer and dryer, and a charming spacious entry way complete with a solid walnut bench and a full-sized mirror.
There is central air conditioning and forced air heating, as well as a wood-burning stove, which allows for comfortable enjoyment of the property all year round.
Our property is equipped with a SpaceX Starlink satellite system which provides for the fastest download speeds among all internet providers in Canada.
Our Outdoor Space:
Enjoy the great Canadian outdoors! Relax on the grass by the water with a glass of wine, get comfortable and cozy with a warm blanket by the fire pit or hop into the hot tub on a cool evening as the sun sets for the day. Our cottage features a spacious, fairly level green lawn, beautiful mature maple and birch trees, a fire pit, a wrap-around deck with patio furniture and a Napoleon Barbeque, and an all-season hot tub. Included with your stay are two kayaks, two stand up paddle boards, a pedal boat, and a 14 foot aluminum fishing boat with 9.9 HP motor available at additional cost (available for week-long stays only).
On the other side, the cottage is hidden from the road by a row of tall ever-green trees offering privacy from the road and the neighbours across the road.
Important Note: We do have neighbours on both sides. On the right side, there is a fence that separates our property from our neighbour's. On the left, there is no fence and our property is "marked" by the trees, big and small, that run along the driveway and down to the water. You will see green grass and kind of a "pathway" that stretches all the way to the water. This is our neighbours' property and they use it to access their dock (meaning that you may see people walking down that little stretch).
Our Waterfront:
We are on the north end of Rice Lake, right near the mouth of the Trent River flowing from the lake. Rice is a shallow and weedy lake. This aquatic vegetation is part of the local aquatic ecosystem with rich biodiversity and is host to numerous species of birds, amphibians and fish. Our shoreline is home to frogs, turtles, catfish, bass, pike, walleye, swans, geese and one Great Blue Herron! The growth of vegetation around our shoreline depends on various factors outside of our control, like how warm winter was, for example. Our shoreline is not privately owned and falls under the jurisdiction of Parks Canada because the Trent-Severn Waterway is a National Historic Site. Due to this reason, the surrounding vegetation or existing species cannot be touched without a special permit from Parks Canada (exception is fishing during the appropriate season and with a valid fishing license). Our waterfront, and the greater Trent-Severn Waterway, offers exceptional boating, plentiful fishing and serene landscapes!
Guest Access:
Our guests have exclusive private access to the entire cottage, the surrounding property, deck, hot tub, fire pit and dock, but we can be available if needed.
Parking is available for up to four vehicles on the driveway (the gravel only, not the grass).
The cottage accommodates up to 6 adults or children, with no exceptions. Our well and septic systems cannot accommodate a larger group and we only have a total of 6 comfortable sleeping spaces without flowing into the common areas.
Please note that this is the maximum number of people that can be on the property at any one time. Please also abide by our quiet hours policy of between 11pm and 10am and absolutely no parties or events are permitted on the premises.
Security:
Our property has two Nest cameras, one facing the driveway and one facing the waterfront and our front door is equipped with a Nest Yale Smart Lock system and we provide a unique code for each guest/ group. Our living room is also equipped with a Nest smoke detector.
Garbage:
We please ask that our guests take all their garbage and recycling with them at check out as we can?t leave garbage at roadside for more than a day. Our local garbage pick up is Monday morning and we do provide garbage tags, garbage bags and recycling blue bags for guests whose stay extends over Monday morning. Local dump site: Seymour Community Recycling Center, about 15 minutes away. There is a cost of about $13. Large garbage bags and recycling blue bags will be provided, for your convenience. Please Google it before visiting, just in case. Currently, it is closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
Booking Instructions:
After booking, you will be asked to review and agree to our House Rules and to provide complete information about your group, including the number of adults and their full names, the number of children and just their ages (so that we can accommodate appropriately), any pets and the number of vehicles that will be on the property during your stay. The primary guest will be asked to provide a Photo ID as well. The primary guest will receive an email with instructions and code for the front door the day before the expected arrival.

NOTES Long weekends have an extra charge. REVIEWS | Dennis | |
| This is a wonderful cottage. We stayed for 2 weeks - family of 4 with 2 boys aged 9 and 10. Everyone enjoyed our time at this property. The cottage itself is all brand new inside and out. Large entry area was great to be able to unload and drop belongings until you get settled. Very spacious split-level open concept gave everyone space while keeping us connected. Very bright with lots of large windows. All bedrooms are well appointed and spacious. Bathrooms are fantastic. Great Wifi and outstanding TV with all apps. Fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and everything you need. Lovely deck with a great BBQ on central propane. The hot tub is amazing! All waterfront activities are in good working order. There is lots of grass leading to a nice fire pit and the sandy beach entry. The hosts are exceptional in responsiveness and service. Attention to detail is stellar - they provided everything we could have asked for (and more) to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We experienced no issues of any kind during our stay. Deposit was returned promptly. Town of Hastings is about a 5min drive and has all the basics - Campbellford is about 15min drive and has everything else (don't forget to go to Dooher's Bakery!). In short - my opinion is you would be lucky to be able to rent this property; honestly it looks it was just on an HGTV show.

| This is by far the best cottage we have rented. Upon arrival we were deceived by the outside of the cottage, it didn't look big at all, but when we got inside our worries went away. It's more than enough to accommodate us 5 people. It can easily accommodate a three generation family or two families without being cramped. It is beautifully furnished, smells like a spa, cleaned spotless with soft music playing from Google Home, and stocked with high end organic everything. The owners did not go cheap on the things they let their guests use and thoughtfully stocked it with almost everything you can think of. You could simply come with your clothes and fishing rods, no need to pack anything else.
The cottage is situated near the town of Hastings, easy grocery shopping and it also has a nice restaurant. Hiking trails near by. The cottage itself is on the river side, every morning we see a million fish, not small ones but large fish jumping out of the water every where. It must be good fishing here, though, we never had luck in fishing our whole life and only caught little ones that we set free.
The owners Alaxandra and Dimitry, they are also the nicest people you can encounter. The moment they responded to me they made me feel that they were friends, not just someone I went to rent a cottage from.
This cottage is definitely a returner. We won't be able to every year because we normally have 8 people when we go to cottages, but when we have less, this will be the one!
