Lucerne Lookout - Pet-Friendly 4BR Cottage w/ Great Swimming, BBQ & Firepit

The cottage will take you a little by surprise, much in the same way the Tardis does - it's bigger inside than it looks. A split-bungalow design (walkout to deck/patio on both levels), it provides plenty of space for a group to enjoy time together as well as places to retreat for quieter times. The lower level features 2 bedrooms with lake views as well as laundry and a 4-piece bath. As a bonus, there is a media/sitting room here - a perfect spot for a rainy day or late-night movie. Upstairs is where this cottage really shines. Two large bedrooms as well as the kitchen, dining and living areas adorn this level, and the living and dining rooms have large windows with which to enjoy the nicest lake views of all. The kitchen has all you need for cottage cooking and your group will enjoy the lakeview dining indoors as well as stepping outside to enjoy a burger or hot dog offered up by the family grill master.

Down the stairs to the waterfront, you'll find a spacious dock and a small beach area - offering both shallow and deeper water swimming. A canoe will let you paddle leisurely around the lake, and you won't be bothered by motorized craft here - just the ripples your own paddles create.

A fire pit adjacent to the cottage lets you enjoy the eternal tradition of the evening campfire. A ghost story and a couple of roasted marshmallows are the perfect end to a day in cottage country.

Out and about? Bancroft is just 10 minutes away and is a wonderful little town that offers all you will need in terms of shopping, restaurants (a brew pub, pizza, Chinese are all options), the Village Play House, an art gallery. ice cream (we've always been partial to Kawartha Dairy but there are a few options) and book and thrift stores. As cottage country towns go, Bancroft has something for everyone.

Lucerne Lake is a no-motor lake, but within 5 minutes, both L'Amable Lake and Bay Lake have boat access

Garbage and recycling removal prior to departure is required
Waterfront is a northern exposure

Waterfront
Down at the waterfront, you'll find a spacious dock and a small beach area - offering both shallow and deeper water swimming. The water is approximately 20' deep off the dock - perfect for swimming and jumping off the dock!

The Village Playhouse - Bancroft. Excellent small venue offering live theatre and shows in downtown Bancroft.
Multi-Use Trail.A few minutes walk from the cottage leads to a neighbourhood multi-use trail, which can be used for hiking, biking, and ATVs, and for snowshoeing in the winter.
Eagles Nest Lookout. Climb atop the Eagle's Nest Bancroft for a breath-taking view of the York River Valley. Located above down town Bancroft, off Hastings Street North, it's not something you'll want to miss.
The Bancroft Mineral Museum.Located within a riverside park in Bancroft (10 minutes), this museum, housed in the fully-restored heritage train station is owned and operated by the Bancroft Gem and Mineral Club. Stop by and discover the history of the mining in the area, learn about mineral collecting, or explore over 400 local specimens, all on display in the 1200 square-foot showroom. The park also offers a playground and skatepark, and there's a nice trail along the river, leading to Millennium Park and beyond.
Egan Chutes Provincial Nature Reserve. A bend of the York River has become a wetland with an adjacent sand flat, where poplar, white birch, ash, buffaloberry, and purple flowering raspberry grow. Minerals found here include nepheline, sodalite, biotite, zircon, and blue corundum..
Winter Activities.This Bancroft rental cottage is ideal for winter rentals too, with easy snowmobile access to Route 930, just minutes from the cottage. A unique U-shaped driveway means there's no need to turn around - creating easy in and out access for up to 6 vehicles and their snowmobile trailers. For cross country skiing and snowshoeing, Vance Farm Park is just 10 minutes away, and ice fishing is also an option for anglers, ice conditions permitting.
