Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Can you swim in the river at the cottage? Yes! The river is perfect for a refreshing swim, with several inviting spots both upstream and downstream of the private dam. Depths range from shallow wading areas to sections over 6–7+ feet deep. For a one-of-a-kind adventure and a truly memorable moment, you can even swim right up to the base of the dam in the downstream section for a fun and unique experience!
Here's a bit of background about the dam - it's a 120-year-old structure that once powered a sawmill on the property back in the late 1800s and early 1900s. (That's actually how Mill Road got its name!) Today, it's one of the most unique and charming features of the Riverfront Hideaway.
We recommend: - Water shoes - the riverbed is rocky - Life jackets for young children - for safety and peace of mind (Please note: life jackets are not currently provided at the cottage)
Can you fish in the river at the cottage? Absolutely - while it's not a premier fishing destination, there are definitely some fish in the river behind the cottage - mostly smaller pike and trout, especially upstream of the dam. You'll also often see fish gathering at the base of the dam, swimming into the current as they try to make their way upstream.
While it's not considered trophy fishing, it's a fun and easy way to spend a relaxing afternoon by the river and it's perfect for casual fishing or fun with the kids - and many of our guests have had a great time catching a few fish right from the backyard.

| Our group had a fabulous experience at the Riverfront Hideaway. The house is well stocked and organized, clean and cutely decorated and has ample of space and activities for outdoors as well as indoors. We were able to get around the main floor with a wheelchair. Hosts are quick to respond and greatly accommodating. With a big group like ours and many young kids we spent ample of time outside on the deck and down by the river, which is suitable for very young children (we brought water shoes). Even on sunny days we could always find a beautiful shady spot somewhere in the yard. We also appreciated the games room which is well insulated so the youngest ones could nap while others played ping pong, pool, basketball... Our week there was fantastic!

| We have rented many cottages and condos over the years. The Riverfront Hideaway is, by far, the best rental we have ever had. The 'home' (it does feel like home) is luxury accommodation. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped, the games are amazing, all linens and towels are supplied and the decor is lovely. We are a family of 12, ranging in age from 74 to 20 months. We ALL loved staying at the Hideaway, either relaxing on the new deck, playing games, swimming or walking in the river, and listening to the lovely waterfall. And, there are other attractions in the area to visit. We loved the scenic caves. I also have to say that David was wonderful, from start to finish. He was very responsive, helpful and friendly, and provided lots of useful information. Another huge plus of renting the Riverfront Hideaway. We plan to go back next year! Can't wait!

| The cottage was excellent. The place is beautiful with everything available on site. The had everything stocked and perfectly clean. The rooms are spacious and fits everyone well. We couldn't have asked for a better get away from the city. The kids loved the place. The kitchen was stocked and neat, the back deck was awesome to sit on, the outside fire pit was awesome. The hosts David and Racheal have to mention were generous and went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. The place is only 30 minutes from Blue mountains and very close to all the amenities. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking out for a wonderful cottage that sits on a beautiful quiet piece of land .

| Enjoyed an amazing girls weekend at the cottage. Snow was up past our knees so it meant we spent most of the time inside. 12 ladies all in one house and we did not feel cramped. Between the games room, the rec room, hot tub and spacious living room there was lots to do.
While we didn't need to contact the hosts at all through the stay, as everything was thought of and in order when we got there, the hosts were great to deal with leading up to the weekend. Very pleasant and responsive to inquiries.
I will definitely be back. Can't wait to see the property in the summer!
