Looking for a luxury getaway with all the comforts of home? Well this ain't it! This is a true cottage and a getaway from the city so yes, there may be bugs outside, the doorways may be a bit crooked and you may hear wildlife! It may even be chilly inside in the winter! Guests come here to see the stars over a fire and unwind. If you are looking for a sterile, perfect symmetrical, designer unit with central heat/ air, perfect crown moulding and room for a pony, our cottage is not for you.
The space is cozy (yes small) and renovated (code word for it was a dump when we recently bought it and we fixed it). We set this cottage up with the intent of it being a step outside of the daily hustle and bustle. The cottages of my youth did not have doorways separating the bedrooms and we had to do our business outside. I've gotten bougie in my middle age so this retreat does indeed have doors and indoor bathrooms, 1.5 bath to be exact! We also have a hot tub (please don't go in fully clothed!!), AC and heat on each level! Yes there are quirks, such as slightly crooked doorways and the water cistern does sound a bit cantankerous when it refills but hello, it's a COTTAGE! And although I would have loved to have been able to buy a huge water front cottage or a cabin in the woods on oodles of acres, that is outside of my tax bracket so we do have neighbours fairly close by. They can't see you and you most likely won't see them, but they are there. And you have to walk about 1 minute to bask in the beauty of Sturgeon Lake. But hey, if we were waterfront, we would have to set a higher nightly rate (there's serious BILLS when on the water) so all's not lost!
Like Ontario, this whole cottage is Yours To Discover! No shared space, be free and enjoy (within limits, please don't do anything gross or be too loud, the municipality won't care for it).
NB: DO NOT GO IN THE HOT TUB FULLY CLOTHED! You can ruin your clothes doing this and the chemicals in your clothes play havoc on the system!!
Please, please recognize that municipalities have sound laws! Listen, I am sure many are aware that they are cracking down HARD on short term rentals! The absolute last thing any hosts wants is to get a call in the middle of the night because our guests are having a roaring rager and keeping up the neighbourhood. For the most part, our neighbours are amazing and we don't want to disturb them! So please, if it is your habit to play bagpipes at 2 am or practice your opera at 3 am, or sit in the hot tub at 4 am and rage at the man on the moon out loud, we beg you to leave these habits at home! My nerves and blood pressure thank you for this!

Note: This cottage is located in Kawartha Lakes, in the lovely village of Dunsford. We are only 20 minutes from the Lindsay Gold and Country Club and 8 minutes from the Dunsford Golf and Country club.
