Welcome to the Old Farmhouse!
Originally built in 1831, our rental property has been fully renovated and modernized while keeping the authenticity, charm and aesthetic of a farmhouse built almost 200 years ago. Sitting on a hill surrounded by 5 beautiful acres of reclaimed farmland it provides views of three provinces (NS, PEI and NB) with an expansive view of the Northumberland Strait. Spectacular sunrise and sunset views can be enjoyed from the two oceanside decks. On the rear side of the building, a beautiful old weeping willow tree provides a shaded communal area with a stone patio and Adirondack chairs- immersing you in the sounds, smells and wildlife of the North Shore countryside. The two rear covered decks are equipped with BBQ's and seating for outdoor eating options.
Located 30 seconds from the 4th ranked golf course in the province- Northumberland Links GC- we are one the closest accommodations available to an incredible and memorable Maritime golf experience. Stay and play options are available for renters who will benefit from a reduced rate on both golf and cart. Just 15 minutes away is the 5 star Fox Harb'r resort, built by the late owner of Tim Horton's, for those who want a resort style golf, spa or food experience. 20 minutes away is Wallace River Golf Course- a 9 hole course built by a father and son duo that is great for new golfers, and 40 minutes away is Amherst Golf Club- another fun course that can provide further options for a day trip round of golf.
The Old Farmhouse is located 2km from a beautiful public beach that is very popular with locals and visitors which has a large grass common with picnic tables- lots of space for games and activities. Pugwash is just a 10-minute drive away and, as an increasingly popular village, provides all the necessary services such as a grocery store, NSLC, gas station, Farmers Market (on Saturday), ice cream shops and many locally owned stores. The property is also 15 minutes from Wallace and 20-25 minutes from Tatamagouche and Malagash which provide additional local attractions, including Tata Brew Brewery- a Nova Scotia staple, lobster/oyster markets, Malagash Cidery, and fun dining experiences.
The Old Farmhouse details:
Our farmhouse consists of two self contained units- GREENSIDE and BARN END- which can be rented individually or connected to rent the entire house.
GREENSIDE is comprised of 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 1 half bath. A large, eat in kitchen /dining area seats 6 with stainless steel fridge, stove, microwave, double sink and dishwasher, all with views out to the Northumberland Strait. Includes a walk out deck with seating. The cozy living room has a 50" wall mounted TV with streaming services and access to Starlink internet.
This unit comes with 2 bedrooms -a master ensuite with QUEEN bed and SINGLE day bed, with a custom tile walk in shower, vanity sink and toilet. The second bedroom has 2 DOUBLE beds and a bathroom across the hall with a custom tile shower, vanity sink and toilet plus a powder room on the main floor.
BARN END is comprised of 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath and 1 half bath. The kitchen has a tiled island counter which seats 4 comfortably and looks out through a sliding glass door to beautiful views of the Strait. It includes a stainless steel fridge, stove, sink, microwave and dishwasher. The large living room has a 55" wall mounted TV with streaming services and access to Starlink internet. An additional dining room area is connected that will seat 6.
This unit comes with 2 bedrooms- 1 QUEEN bed and 1 DOUBLE bed with an ocean view in the first bedroom and the second has 2 SINGLE beds, also with views of the strait. The bathroom includes a custom tile shower, vanity sink and toilet plus a powder room off of the kitchen downstairs.
All bedrooms have great quality mattresses, linens and pillows as we understand how important a good night's sleep is when you're on a vacation getaway.
