The Emerald House

The Emerald house is located on Front Road on the north side of Amherst Island. Across the road from the house are extensive views of Lake Ontario. The house is within 5 to 10 minutes drive of a public boat ramp two public docks and five beaches with public access, including the popular Sand Beach. The extensive lot(2 acres)has a large area for games and a fire pit. Pets are allowed with permission.

There are five bedrooms upstairs as well as a full bathroom. Bedding is provided, but you need to bring your own pillowcases sheets and towels.

Downstairs has a large open concept, kitchen and dining room as well as a half bathroom and laundry.

The main floor is split level, the kitchen and dining room is open to a large living room with multiple spaces and views with of the lake. Out the sliding glass doors on the side of the house there is a Weber barbecue under a shaded pergola. Propane for the barbecue is provided.

Amherst island is noted for its birdwatching,especially raptors and owls wintering on the cyclical meadow vole population.A significant proportion of Southern Ontarios Short Eared Owl population winters on the island between November and April.In the fall of 2023 we purchased a 180 acre grassland property where twenty to thirty or more owls spent the winter.
We are planning to offer three day weekend packages this winter where you would have exclusive access to hides on our property where you could get bucket list photographs of the owls as they emerge from their long grass roosts to hunt in the last two hours of daylight.
