Perched atop a peaceful knoll, this newly built 1250 sq ft cottage is charming and bright, and great for a getaway with a small group of friends or family. Located on the Pickerel Waterway System, a popular wilderness destination that's renowned for its excellent fishing, this three-bedroom cottage is perfect for those wishing to explore by canoe, kayak or motorboat. The Pickerel system spans about 65 km (40 miles) of navigable waterways, including both rivers and lakes. From the hilltop, a steeply sloping path and stairs lead down to the waterfront but, beside the shore, there's a sizable flat section where a canoe and three kayaks are typically stored. The paddles and safety gear are kept in a hut in this area. Although there are rocks along much of the 245-foot shoreline, there is a strip of sand at one side that provides easy access for swimming. The entry to the water is shallow and the bottom has firm sand and no weeds. Inside the cottage, the open-concept living/ dining/kitchen area creates the hub for other rooms, including a fully screened room that is comfortable to use in all seasons. The living room has two big, plush sofas that face windows overlooking the solidly built deck, which runs across the entire front of the cottage. Doors with full windows give access to the deck from the living room on one side and from the screened room at the other end. The screened room, which is equipped with comfortable seating and a large coffee table, serves as a second living room and will be an ideal place for playing games.
The kitchen is equipped with a large, stainless-steel fridge, flat-topped stove and microwave, as well as assorted small appliances, a double sink and adequate counter space for food prep, whether cooking inside or using the barbeque on the deck. A hallway leading off the kitchen has a modern, stacking washer/dryer at one end and gives access to a trio of bedrooms.
Each of the three bedrooms has a brand-new queen-sized bed, closet and set of bedside tables with lamps, in case one wants to read in bed! Also off the hall in the bedroom area, there's a spacious four-piece bathroom that has a large sink and mirror with a contemporary, country-styled cabinet, as well as a full-sized bathtub and shower unit.
This secluded cottage features reliable, unlimited high-speed internet/Wi-Fi but, due to its remote location, there is no cell phone service. Calls can be made using the Wi-Fi with no problem (WhatsApp or Facebook/Messenger provide this calling option, for example). The 44? smart TV in the living room has a firestick for access to online media and, in the screened room, there are a few table games. And, since it's equipped with a generator that automatically comes on during a power outage, the cottage will be cozy and fully functional at any time of year ? even when the weather outside is frightful!
In this near-north region, there are numerous year-round activities for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. This is a popular destination for those who pursue motorsports such as snowmobiling, ATVing, motorcycling and boating. However, it?'s also a great place for non-motorized activities, whether water or land based. There are several provincial parks and hiking trails in the Loring-Restoule area and plenty of places to go canoeing or kayaking. Since the cottage is on the iconic Pickerel Waterway System, anyone who likes to fish will want to wet a line here and try to land a big bass, pike or pickerel/walleye. If it's a rainy day, it may be fun to check out shops such as Farmstead Pottery in Loring or the newly constructed Port Shores in Port Loring.
