Rated as four stars with Canada Select Star Rock Cottage is located just a few steps across our fields on your own private path to the beach at White Sands, where you can walk to lovely secluded coves in either direction. Fresh farm eggs are available to our guests, you can also dig for delicious clams on the sand bars at low tide and buy fresh fish and lobster from local fishermen at the nearby harbours. Sit and watch the fox cubs play and the gannets diving from the sunroom, everyone's favourite place. The cottage comfortably sleeps up to four adults or two adults and two children. As we have large livestock we are unable to take children under the age of 10 for safety reasons. Decorated in country style with painted furniture, wool rugs and artwork to give you a home from home feel. We have endeavored to give the cottage a homely feel with little touches of luxury such as quality beds with 100% cotton linens, cozy bath robes, fluffy white towels and bath sheets. There is also an outside shower for those beach days, great for washing off the sand from the local beach or any of the sandy shores that are within a easy drive. A fire pit for extra enjoyment of summer nights overlooks the water plus a modern gas barbecue and outside table and chairs. The cottage is set in a lovely cottage garden with lots of flowers and shrubs. Located in the small, peaceful fishing and farming hamlet of White Sands but close to both picturesque Murray Harbour and Murray River that are served by a general store, gift shops, three restaurants, gas station, coffee shop, libraries, boat tours, golf courses, kayaking, etc.. The town of Montague is a short drive away with it's fitness center and pool, larger stores and fine dining as well as fast food. Many wonderful beaches and provincial parks are within an easy drive and the ferry to Nova Scotia is ten minutes away. The Confederation trail is 4kms and provides a great way to explore the Island from tip to tip on foot or bicycle if you wish. Electric Bike rentals are available close by. Historic Charlottetown is a scenic 37 miles drive and there is so much to see and do there. The island is home to an amazing music community and you will find that it isn't hard to get to hear some of the best talent from right here on the island. The rental comes with high speed internet and a smart TV with Netflix etc.

| We loved Star Rock Cottage and had a wonderfully relaxing week there. The view of the Northumberland Strait is magnificent, and how peaceful to hear the sounds of the ocean while reading in the screened-in porch. The décor is decidedly coastal -- everything is bright and airy, fresh and clean. Hosts Susan and Dave were so welcoming and thought of everything that guests might need. From homemade bread and farm-fresh eggs to beach towels and even a vase of flowers on the dining table -- the attention to detail and desire to provide a home away from home is evident. Although this part of the province is quite quiet, there are numerous lovely beaches just a short drive away, and one can find groceries, restaurants, and shops in Montague (just 20 minutes from the cottage). We were entertained by the sheep in the paddock -- watching them was a daily highlight. We would absolutely return to this lovely spot!

Owner response: The best part of having our little cottage is sharing it with people who appreciate this wonderful, peaceful place. Thank you for chosing this spot and we do hope you will long have fond memories of your visit here. The sheep are everybodies favourite, I think their ability to be so relaxed rubs off on all of us. Thank you again.

| We stayed at this charming 2-bedroom cottage in July 2025. It is perfect for a couple with a child and would accomodate two children fine. The cottage was comfortable and pretty. The rural surroundings were picturesque. Our 8 yr old was happy going to see the sheep in the field across from the cottage. The ocean was just a quick walk down the field where there is a sandy beach. We loved the outdoor shower at the cottage. The owners were very hospitable and left it spick and span for us. This is the place for a calm and quiet getaway off the beaten track.
Tips: Be sure to bring groceries with you if you arrive late on a Saturday as there is not much around and nowhere open on Sundays to buy food. The drive to Montague is about 40 mins. for the closest grocery store. We discovered the King's Castle provincial park in the vicinity that has activities for children in the summer as well as children's stories character walk and a beach. It's a good place for a picnic or getting an ice cream cone.

Owner response: Thank you for coming to stay at our cottage Rachel, it was a pleasure to host you and your family, we're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. We do leave supplies ( Home made bread, butter, eggs from our hens, milk tea, coffee etc.) in the cottage so guests who might not get the opportunity to shop before they come to have enough for their first breakfast. We are blessed with an amazing general store 4kms away in the beautiful village of Murray Harbour that is open 7 days a week, also two family run restaurants if you don't want to travel to the town of Montague which is 25 kms away ( 22 minutes ) where there are supermarkets, fast food and family restaurants etc..

| We had a wonderful stay at Star Rock Cottage. It was so calm and peaceful and the perfect home base to explore the island. The cottage is very comfortable, well maintained and supplied with everything a guest could need. I enjoyed visiting with the horses and sheep, wandering down to the beach at the bottom of the property, and sitting in the front porch looking out towards the water. It was fun to read the books about local history. The owners are very helpful and clearly care a lot about their guests. My friend and I are already talking about rebooking for next year!
