The Area - Located in Whitby, Ontario, the property is the very last cottage on South Thickson Road with immediate full views of Lake Ontario from the moment you drive into the large horseshoe driveway. The property is situated on half an acre with ample parking. There are numerous opportunities for walking trails from the coastline to Thickson Woods. Bring your camera as birdwatching is a popular hobby here. There are plenty of grounds for kids to play. If you need something, just ask - if we have it, you can have it. Be aware that although we try our best to keep poison ivy at bay, we may occasionally miss some. Please supervise children and treat wildlife with the distant respect they deserve.
The Beach - The beach is a beautiful, slow 5 minute walk from the cottage on a gravel road, Crystal Beach Blvd. We recommend using a wagon to get to the beach as you cannot park your car there. There is absolutely no parking near the beach. As a private beach, it is rustic and rocky - perfect for exploring. On windy days, avoid. The lake gets rough and there are no lifeguard facilities.
The Cottage - The house is spacious, modern and pristine. We aim to provide an escape that is near perfect and as little work as possible. There are 2 bedrooms in the basement and a full bathroom. You can see the lake from the East bedroom. They are comfortable, clean and luxurious. The mattress in the East bedroom is softer than the one with the bunk beds. Linens are 100% cotton and luxurious for a good night's sleep. There is one 'weird' bedroom on the main floor that is a favourite of our guests. Once an accessible room, we've made it wonderfully comfortable for guests who want to avoid staircases or just love falling out of bed and falling into the shower. The living room is hugely spacious as is the kitchen. We have two dining tables and a covered porch for days where you just want to enjoy the view bug free.
Linens - Towels, hand towels and wash cloths are provided. Please do not wash the linens.
Garbage - If you live in Ontario and can help us out by taking your garbage with you, we would be grateful. For our guests who are flying in to Canada, we take care of things.
Access - The code for the property is sent on the day of arrival.
