| Our family has been renting this lakeside cottage for a week every summer for over 20 years, and it has truly become our “summer retreat”—our perfect escape from the city. From morning coffee on the back deck to afternoon swims in the lake and evenings by the campfire, it feels like our “home away from home” in every sense.
The cottage itself is cozy, rustic, and well maintained. The waterfront view is beautiful—the lake is clean, clear, and weed-free with a lovely sandy bottom. It's easy to get into the water, with a gradual walk-in from the rocky shoreline. One of my favorite features is the setting sun across the lake, which means shaded mornings, sun-filled swims into the evening and wonderful sunsets. We also love getting out on the water. The kayaks and canoes are great to explore the quiet bays of Lake Mazinaw or venture further to Bon Echo Provincial Park. For a change of pace, we often take day trips to Kingston or Ottawa which are very manageable.
Doug and Nancy are wonderful hosts—friendly and easy to communicate with. From the shoreline to the treeline, the property is kept pristine. This cottage is truly a special place to relax and unwind from our busy lives. We love it so much that we return year after year—and have already booked again for this summer.
