Windrush Island is a small private island with a 2 bedroom cottage in the 1000 islands Admiralty Group on the Saint Lawrence River.

You get the island to yourself. It is about half an acre on an exposed rock with lots of deck and a nice little cottage. This is about as waterfront as you are going to get. The water is all around you and impossible to ignore.

The cottage is simple, small, and clean. It's ideal for a family of 4. There's books and fishing rods and games and snorkels and puzzles and water toys and paddle boards and you can spend the whole week out here barefoot if you want to. It is windy and there is sometimes big waves out here. This is a great place for swimming and the fishing is really good here too. Glorious on a calm day and Peggy's Cove on rough days. Excellent clean water for swimming.

Being on an island is different than being on the mainland. After a few days you really start to lose track of time. It's true that getting there is going to take more effort than you might be used to. There is more lugging stuff around than normal, and anytime you involve boats there's usually some adventure in the works. You should plan your supplies and meals carefully because you can't just run to the store to pick something up. You are a bit isolated out there. But there is plenty to do, and forever memories to be made. If you want to try something a bit different and you are ok with putting in a bit of effort on your vacation, this is probably for you.
