| The Birdhouse Retreat was awesome!
My wife and I were looking for a peaceful getaway and the birdhouse was that perfect place.
The cottage was welcoming and cozy with a nice layout. It provides a screened porch, outside deck with Adirondack chairs to chill and get back to nature. We spent our days snowshoeing, going for walks and even met a friendly neighbour and their cute dog from a cottage down the road! In the evening the cottage delivered again with a crackling, warm fireplace and if you step outside, it's a fantastic place to stargaze.
We had the best sleep!
The surrounding small towns are quaint, with charming stores, restaurants and the people are very friendly. We took an afternoon to visit and stroll through the O'Hara Mills Homestead and Conservation Area. The covered bridge and streams were beautiful and gave you insight as to how the area was founded.
Overall, the Birdhouse Retreat was wonderful and we'd highly recommend it to anyone! We definitely plan on going back again.

| My experience at the Birdhouse was wonderful and provided a respite from hectic everyday life. Every detail in architecture, design, comfort, and site was thoughtfully considered. As a half Dane, I would describe the feeling and setting as hygge. It is definitely a place for architecture buffs and people looking for natural beauty.
To focus on the site for a moment, it is on the edge of the Canadian Shield, so there are great rocky outcroppings on the property—the site feels very untouched and natural. Just enough trees were cleared to allow a view over the cliff to the stunning marsh below. The Birdhouse includes a large screened porch overlooking this and is perfect for the view.
On the practical side, there are many nice amenities, like a wood-burning stove, full kitchen, and even good internet access.
Also, it is not too far from Perth, which is a fun day trip for window shopping and well-preserved buildings.
Paul and Sabina were very helpful and responsive throughout our entire visit. We plan to stay again soon.
