Welcome to Sunsets on the Grand, a peaceful waterfront cottage on the Grand River near Dunnville, Ontario — a relaxing Haldimand County getaway where the water, sunsets and outdoor spaces take centre stage. Set directly on the Grand River, this private two-bedroom cottage is designed for couples, families and friends looking to slow down, reconnect and enjoy life by the water. Start the morning with coffee overlooking the river, cast a fishing line from the backyard or dock, relax on the two-tier deck, enjoy dinner outdoors, gather around the waterside firepit, or settle into the large screened gazebo as the sun goes down. WATERFRONT & FISHING - The Grand River is right outside your door. Sunsets on the Grand offers private waterfront with a floating dock and beautiful river views. Bring your fishing gear and cast a line right from the dock or the river's edge in the backyard — no need to drive somewhere else just to get on the water. The Dunnville and Lower Grand River area is well known for fishing and supports an impressive variety of species, including channel catfish, walleye, bass, pike and more. Fishing isn't just a summer activity here. The Dunnville area also attracts anglers during the winter ice-fishing season, making Sunsets on the Grand a comfortable home base for a fishing getaway throughout much of the year. Guests should always check current local conditions and ice safety before venturing onto any frozen waterway. Not an angler? The waterfront is just as good for morning coffee, watching boats and wildlife, reading by the water, or simply finding a comfortable spot and watching the sky change over the Grand. Guests do swim in the river, but this is a natural, unsupervised waterway rather than a maintained swimming beach. Water depth, current, conditions and water quality can change, so guests enter and use the river at their own risk and should exercise appropriate caution.
Please note that kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and other watercraft are not provided for guest use.
OUTDOOR LIVING - Some of the best parts of Sunsets on the Grand are outside.
Enjoy:
* Private Grand River waterfront * Floating dock * Fishing from the dock or riverbank * Two-tier composite deck * Large 12' x 20' screened gazebo * Comfortable outdoor seating * Outdoor dining area * Waterside firepit * Gas fire table * Beautiful sunset views * Parking for approximately 2–3 vehicles
The screened gazebo is particularly lovely for enjoying the river while having some protection from the insects that naturally come with waterfront and cottage-country living. It's a wonderful place for morning coffee, afternoon conversation, dinner overlooking the water or a quiet evening outdoors.
INSIDE THE COTTAGE - The cottage has two bedrooms:
* Primary bedroom with a queen bed * Second bedroom with a double bed
There is also a double pull-out sofa in the living room for additional sleeping space.
You'll have a full kitchen for preparing meals, a comfortable living area with Smart TV and Wi-Fi, a gas fireplace for cooler evenings, and a bathroom with convenient in-suite washer and dryer.
Remote-controlled blinds in the main living area let you enjoy the river view during the day and privacy when you want it.
DIFFERENT KIND OF GETAWAY
Sunsets on the Grand isn't about crowds, resorts or packed itineraries.
It's about waking up beside the water.
Coffee on the deck.
Casting a line from the backyard.
Long conversations in the gazebo.
Dinner outside.
Watching the sunset over the Grand River.
A fire by the water after dark.
And having enough space to actually spend time together.
The cottage works beautifully for a romantic waterfront getaway, family cottage weekend, fishing trip, quiet friends' retreat or longer stay in the Dunnville and Haldimand County area.
EXPLORE DUNNVILLE & HALDIMAND COUNTY
When you feel like exploring beyond the cottage, Dunnville and the surrounding Haldimand County area offer plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors.
Nearby Byng Island Conservation Area stretches along the Grand River and offers hiking, boating, fishing, playgrounds and other outdoor activities. In summer, it's also home to Canada's largest outdoor swimming pool — an enormous approximately two-acre pool with areas for both younger visitors and swimmers.
Dunnville is known for its connection to the Grand River and its fishing. Explore local fishing spots, head toward the Lake Erie shoreline, spend some time discovering the town and surrounding countryside, or skip the sightseeing altogether and simply stay at the cottage and cast a line from your own backyard.
And while you're in Dunnville, keep an eye out for Muddy the Mudcat — the town's enormous roadside catfish and one of those wonderfully quirky local landmarks that deserves at least one vacation photo.
Sunsets on the Grand offers the peaceful feeling of a waterfront escape while remaining within driving distance of Hamilton, Niagara and surrounding Southern Ontario communities. Groceries, restaurants and everyday necessities are available in Dunnville. Walking distance to the golf course.
GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING
This is a genuine waterfront country property. That means guests may encounter insects, spiders and local wildlife, particularly around the river and outdoor areas. That's part of cottage-country living, but we want guests to know what to expect.
The cottage uses delivered potable water and a holding-tank system, so we ask guests to be mindful of water use during their stay. A water dispenser is also available for guests who prefer to bring a large drinking-water jug.
The property is intended for registered guests looking for a peaceful getaway. Parties and events are not permitted, and quiet hours are observed so our neighbours can enjoy the river too.
Outdoor security cameras monitor designated exterior areas of the property for safety and security. There are no cameras inside the cottage or in private guest areas.
COME WATCH THE SUNSET
Whether you're planning a couple of peaceful nights by the water, a fishing weekend, a family getaway or a longer cottage escape, Sunsets on the Grand offers a comfortable place to slow down with the river just steps away.
Bring a book. Bring your fishing rod. Bring the people you actually want to spend time with.
Pour something cold or hot, find a seat overlooking the water and see why we called it Sunsets on the Grand.
