| We were excited about all Calypso had to offer for our family vacation based on the listing, but we felt like the realities fell short.
On a positive note, Calypso had a massive yard and deck, the kitchen was well stocked, and we made great use of the peddle boat, canoe and kayak.
However, there were some issues that renters should be aware of. You are expected to bring your own sheets, towels, soaps (for bathrooms, kitchen, dishwasher & washing machine), toilet paper, food wrapping and recycling bags. You are also asked to take all garbage/recycling to the dump, a 20 minute drive. There were no board games, puzzles, cards, and the pool table only had one usable cue (in the musty smelling basement).
As for the outside area, the patio table was nowhere close to the kitchen. We moved the table upstairs to the smaller deck to have easier access. To get down to the water, you had to walk down a steep washed out road, which we found challenging with a young child. The ?beach? is steep and not easily accessible for children, thereby requiring our little one to need adult assistance to enter the water. There were no floaties for the water or sand toys for the beach (even though I was assured everything we would need would be there). The neighbour's dog was constantly on the property leaving droppings all over the lawn, making it difficult to make use of the ample grassy area.
Ultimately, as we reflect on our stay and the price paid for the week, we were disappointed.

Owner response: First of all I would like to mention that before I send the cottage agreement to a client, I verbally go over the details of what is expected from the customer to conform to the contract. All the bathrooms start out with a full roll of toilet paper and all waste paper baskets have a new white bag draped over each one. The cottage is professionally cleaned pryer to arrival. I start all clients out with a couple of clear bags specifically for our dump and 3 blue bins for recycling. All comforters, pillows and blankets are supplied and the customer is to bring their own sheets, towels, soaps , toilet paper. All of this is written in the cottage agreement and verbally mentioned, pryer to booking. The cottage comes with a canoe and peddleboat and for this customer I also supplied an additional Kyake at no extra cost..I do not have other water toys at this location and I never mentioned that there would be. Yes the customer is expected to take their own garbage to the dump which is 10 miles from the cottage. This is explained in my cottage agreement and verbally explained as well pryer to booking. The walkout to the 1600 sq ft composite deck has a beautiful sunken hot tub , patio chairs and patio table with 6 chairs umbrella and the Weber barbecue next to the table. Why would I want my patio table on the upper deck away from the barbecue? When leaving the deck to get to the lake, you can exit from the East side or the West side . One side has 4 steps down and the other has 1 step down, which takes you to the lawn which has a very gentle slope than you end up on a very flat area which takes you to the pristine waters of Big Clear lake . You have the weed free shallow entry for the kids or the deep entry off the end of the dock 17 ft deep. I asked one of my customers who had 3 little kids and arrived Aug 19th what he thought of the swimming, He said 10 out of 10 It's the best lake ever for swimming. They are definitely coming back next year. My secondary driveway did experience some erosion this year due to a high volume of rain and I responded immediately to my excavator man to fix. I would like to add that the second driveway is only used to drive your car to the water front which nobody really uses it. The lower level of the Calypso does not smell musty. It has 9 ft high ceilings and massive windows and French doors spanning aprox 80 ft. It is vey elegant , bright and cheery. All four of my waterfront homes are very elegant and well maintained. I talked to the husband as he was leaving that day and he said, ?what a beautiful spot? | |

| My family and I just got back from a week's stay at Calypso and we had a fantastic time!!! The cottage is very spacious and beautifully laid out. There's lots of space to enjoy some quiet time alone or to gather as a group and have fun! We loved the large, sunny dock and really enjoyed access to the pontoon boat (extra charge) throughout the week. The cottage is nicely appointed with everything that you need in the kitchen, a pool table and excercise area and 3 beautiful patios to sun yourself on! The built in hot tub (on the main deck) was also a family favourite! The owner, Mike, as very accessible and happily answered all of our questions. We would definately recommend this cottage and hope to return next summer!

| We had an amazing time during the Thanksgiving long weekend at Calypso with family and friends, and the stay totally exceeded our expectations. The place is so spacious with a stunning view from the large living room overlooking the lake reflecting the gorgeous fall colors. The property has very good privacy and is very quiet. The kitchen had everything and more that we needed. Kids enjoyed fishing, paddle boat riding on the lake during the day and had so much fun at night around the campfire. The owner was very accommodating and provided detailed information about how to get there. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and we highly recommend this cottage.

| Still thinking of the amazing memories we made at Calypso this year -- our large extended family, from 1 to 60+ in age, had a ball at this beautiful, spacious, well-equipped waterfront house. The kitchen had absolutely everything a large group would need, the dining area was large enough for all of us to eat together, the house was spotless and the hot tub, fire pit, paddleboard and paddle boat were all well used. Extra special treat was to hear the coyotes howling under the full moon! Thanks so much for an absolutely spectacular week in Frontenac County!
