| A Truly Lovely Retreat.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Sept 18 – 22, 2026.
This cottage is really a home with all the amenities that one needs to enjoy a vacation.
Extremely clean, updated appliances, comfortable furniture, large deck with plenty of intimate spaces to choose from.
The west facing sunsets were amazing along with exceptional light pollution free star gazing at night.
We enjoyed the hot tub, waterfront fire pit and woodstove every night.
We brought our own kayak & canoe but there were several recreational boating items to use.
We very fortunate with beautiful weather, calm lake for canoeing & fishing.
The lake was crystal clear and very quiet for a relaxing stay.
Looking forward to next year !

| Derek was very communicative, which we deeply appreciated. The kitchen and living space were well appointed, and our kids enjoyed the island, reclining chairs, hammock, and board games. The layout was very comfortable.
The kids loved the bunkbeds and trundle, but the mattresses in the other two bedrooms were extremely uncomfortable and creaky.
The lakefront had a beautiful clear, sandy, weed-free walk-in area accessible from the dock or stone steps, which was perfect for kids and floating. The many kayaks were fantastic and used daily. However, the rest of the lake seemed very weedy and shallow.
We unfortunately all experienced duck mite bites/swimmer's itch, which affected everyone and was a significant issue. We didn't feed the ducks (as per the house rules), but large flocks were often in the water. We encourage future guests to google this for awareness and preventive tips, as we had never encountered it before.
Noise was also a consistent issue. The neighbour's house swap brought a large, loud group right next door for much of the week, and music and conversation carried clearly. Noise from the camp down the lake was also frequent, so it didn't feel very quiet or private.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay. The hot tub was a favourite, evenings by the fire were lovely, and the views were beautiful. Morning coffee on the deck, and watching and listening to the loons, was a true highlight.

We're glad to hear your family enjoyed the cottage, waterfront, kayaks, hot tub, firepit, views and mornings listening to the loons. We did want to clarify the concern regarding swimmer's itch/duck mites. In your review, you mentioned that your children enjoyed spending time on the island. That island is approximately 400 metres from our cottage and is not part of our property. It is privately owned by someone else. The island is also where ducks regularly live and congregate. Ducks do not come onto our property or gather along our shoreline, although we do see them swimming past on the lake. Given that your children spent time on the island, that would be the most likely location where they were exposed to duck mites/swimmer's itch. We would also strongly caution anyone against going onto the island because, in addition to being privately owned, it has a significant amount of poison ivy. Regarding the noise, your stay unfortunately coincided with one weekend when the neighbouring property was hosting a family reunion. We sincerely apologize that the additional people and noise affected the peace and privacy of your stay. Unfortunately, activities occurring on neighbouring private properties are outside of our control. We appreciate your positive comments about the cottage, waterfront and amenities, and we're pleased that overall your family enjoyed your stay. | |

| We just finished renting the McLenaghan Retreat from July 4 – 11/26. This is more like a home than a cottage having new appliances, including a dish washer. The hot tub, clean lake with safe swimming added to the experience. The cooling effect from the included heat pump was much appreciated. I highly recommend this retreat.

| We had a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage, parents and two teenagers. The lake is clean and the cottage is 2 literally a step away from the porch, overlooking the lake. The cottage was clean and well maintained, with everything that was needed for cooking, enjoying the evenings indoor, swimming and pedaling.

| Derek and Lisa's cottage was everything a cottage should be for a wonderful family vacation! After unpacking we were treated to a spectacular sunset which we enjoyed on the waterfront deck. The close proximity to the waterfront from the cottage made for excellent lake views from both the deck and the dining table. Our grandson absolutely loved the child safe, gently sloping water. The water access was quick and easy. There was plenty of watercraft for all. The firepit at the waters edge again brought you back to the water. Swimming was excellent with a nice floating dock to swim to. Hot tub was a nice touch also, especially on a cool day. The kitchen was beautiful, and was laid out well, as well as containing everything you would need to cook. A very nicely designed cottage and lot. We will definitely be coming aback again!
