REVIEW GUIDELINES
Guidelines for reviews and owner responses
Reviews and owner responses that do not respect the guidelines below will be rejected/deleted without notice.
General:
  • The reviews and responses are the opinions of the respective renters and owners. They do not reflect the opinions of CottagesInCanada.
  • Reviews must be submitted within 12 months of the rental.
  • Renters cannot submit a review with the aim of blackmailing or threatening the owners in order to extract money or other advantages.
  • Renters cannot submit a review in the context of an unresolved dispute and/or a security deposit refund issue.
  • Renters cannot submit a review if a complaint has already been submitted.
  • If legal action has been taken between a renter and owner, we have the right to remove a review upon receiving a court order or ruling to that effect.
  • The owner or person responsible for the listing cannot submit a review for their own cottage.
Renters who want to submit a review must meet the following requirements:
  • Have stayed in the cottage and be able to provide proof of the stay upon request (rental contract, proof of payment or other)
  • CottagesInCanada should be used to perform the rental of the cottage.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide their real first and last name.
  • Provide an email address that will be validated via a confirmation link.
  • Submit a single review for his/her group.
  • Submit a single review for a cottage, even if the renter stayed at that cottage on more than one occasion.
The review and responses must not contain:
  • The property's exact location, rental rates or any other dollar amount.
  • Personal information (name, email address, physical address, telephone number, etc.)
  • Offensive comments
  • Insults or personal attacks
  • Swearing, vulgar language, etc.
  • Defamatory content
  • Discrimination against the person's religion, nationality, sexual orientation or other
  • The contents from another review
  • Contents based on speculation, assumption or rumour (e.g. "The cottage's neighbour said...")
  • Contents in a language other than French or English
  • Text all in capital letters
  • HTML tags, URLs, links and references to other websites.
  • Advertising or commercial information
