FAQ
The water is fairly shallow a long ways out - perfect for little ones to splash around. For serious swimmers wanting to do laps, the water deepens once you get past the small island off-shore, which you can see in some of the photos. The river bottom is mostly sandy. Much of the Ottawa River in this region has some clams living in it; in our area, there aren't that many, but the quantity varies from year to year. We prefer to wear "water shoes" just in case we step on the odd one.
If you have a motorboat you'd like to bring, there are a couple of boat launch locations nearby for which we can give you a map. Usually people anchor their boat at the depth they prefer, off shore. We do not have a dock.
The cottage does not have air conditioning. We manage the summer heat by keeping the windows and blinds/curtains closed during the hot parts of the day, and then open everything up when it cools down in the evening and at night. We have ceiling fans and floor fans as well.
We normally do our booking for the summer in January or February each year.

Lots of islands abound within easy canoeing distance, making for a beautiful, scenic view. AVAILABILITYLast update: August 27, 2024 |

| We've stayed here for one week in each of the past 3 years. It's such a great spot. The cottage is clean, well equipped (board games galore, interesting books, canoe, paddle boat, sand toys, antique toasters, anything you would ever need for cooking a nice meal) and it's obvious they take great pride in keeping it in great condition. The beach is nice and sandy, and the water is shallow for quite a ways, which is great for our young kids. There are islands a very short paddle away to explore, including one with a shipwreck! The screened in porch is great in the evening when the weather isn't the greatest or if you just don't feel like putting on bug spray, we used it for most of our dinner time meals. The sun sets right over the river/lake, it's really incredible. We highly recommend it.

| We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this cottage. The amenities fit our family lifestyle perfectly and the beach was amazing. The cottage was very clean and without issue. Even without air conditioning, the nightly breeze from the river and ceiling fans made the hot temps a non-issue. Our kids loved the bonus of a half basketball court and ping pong table when needing a break from the sun. Highly recommend this property.

| We had a wonderful stay at your family's beautiful cottage. Thank you so much for having us. It really exceeded all of our expectations. You have put so much care and thought into every detail.
From the fully equipped kitchen to the shelves stocked with books for all ages and games for the whole family, we found ourselves as happy indoors in the living room, the loft, the sun room and the basement playing ping-pong as outdoors on your lovely beach.
It was a perfect place to leave the world behind and spend time together.
We plan to make a yearly stay a family tradition.
