Rates... are the same year round....minimum 2 nights $500...each additional night $175 ex: 3 nights $675, 4 nights $850 , up to a week, 7 nights $1375 I will send the rental agreement to be filled in and emailed back to confirm your spot ASAP The real Canadian experience, an authentic darling little 600 square foot log cabin in the middle of the woods on the edge of a tiny lake off the grid. You are the only ones on the lake! Totally private. The cabin is and adult property for two persons. There is a 2 person wood fired ofura cedar hot tub filled with spring or lake water and a separate wood fired log sauna just up the hill which looks like a cabin on its own. (Closed December to March 15) The cabin and sauna were built on site from white pine logs that were cut on the steep hill within 500' of the cabin. The cabin comes fully equipped. Power is supplied by the sun. Four solar panels and 6 batteries supply enough power for your lights, music, chargers (there is a 1000 watt inverter so no hair blowers or toasters). The Kitchen is 7 by 11, with a small 4 burner propane stove and oven and a mid size propane fridge with tiny freezer. There is gravity fed running cold water at the sink in the summer which we collect from the spring before it dries up (another reason for making this just a 2 person place) and above the sink is a gravity fed 2 gallon Berkey water filter system for drinking water. Winter has a 7 gallon container on the counter. We bring in the water from our home. . Spices, sugar, salt, flour etc. (guests leave all kinds of goodies for you to use) are in the cupboards, lots of dishes, cutlery, coffee grinder, stovetop expresso maker, stovetop Milita drip coffee pot, pots and pans, blender, almost everything you would have at your home. Feel free to ask if there is that specific item you need. The kitchen opens up to the back deck where you will find the BBQ
There is an awesome 8x7' Wood fired Log sauna just up the hill from the cabin where two can fully stretch out which is about 30' from the cabin uphill (this is the building you can see up on your right), where you can watch the fire or gaze out at the lake through the window, then step outside on the large deck to cool off, do your yoga, run down to the lake, hot tub or roll in the snow
The main part of the cabin is 16' by 14', has a couch, oak table and chairs, wood stove and lots of games, puzzles and books, (a list of all the games are on our web site). Quaint decor and attention to detail. It is cozy, romantic and sure to delight.
Bathroom....there is an adorable outhouse that (Lucy) built with a chainsaw and hand saw before the cabin was built and before there was a generator. There is a tiny bathroom inside for pee only, small sink and McGivered shower....dont forget there is the wood fired hot tub outside and a log sauna.
There is a steep ladder/stairs leading upstairs to a large loft that has cathedral ceiling, skylight and lots of windows. There is a queen sized bed, linens provided, pine floors and desk, armoire and chest of drawers. The loft opens up to a deck with stairs.
The back room serves as both a mudroom or extra sitting area with a couch. This room opens up to a side deck, covered pergola. 20' from here is an unbelievable 2 person wood fired cedar soaking tub, even in the rain it is sheer bliss to be sitting in under the stars. In the winter it is filled from a spring coming out of the hill and heated for you, changed for every guest. In the summer we use a gas pump to fill from the lake as our spring often dries up and leave you to set the fire to get it hot.
The lake is very small, mud bottom with pike, perch and catfish in it, apparently there is that elusive big one that got away. The water is natural, mud bottom, tea coloured, no pollutants. There is a swim raft in the middle of the lake, a couple of canoes. There is a 20' rock beach with a bit of sand on it that goes out about 8' then drops to about 8'. The deepest spot is about 13'. The cabin is about 60' from the lake facing northwest.
Enjoy bonfires by the waters edge or sit in the wood fired hot tub and gaze at the stars. We have trails that we are slowly developing on our 230 acres for hiking in the summer and winter. In the winter enjoy snowshoeing on the trails.
Pets, yes we allow dogs that have been treated with a flea product and well behaved and all poop removed before you leave. This guarantees that we can continue to allow dogs. No cats
GETTING THERE: In the spring, summer, fall. We are 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa in the Perkins sector of Val des Monts in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec. I will send you directions through the locked gate to the middle of the forest where I will meet you there with the ATV and trailer to bring your things in the trailer for the 0.4 km trip to the lake edge and then canoe or row 300' across the small lake to the cabin. For yourselves it is a ten minute walk from the trail head. If you wish you can walk around the lake on the deer trail (literally), you must be in good shape)
IN THE WINTER you park at our home which is 2 km away as you cannot drive to the middle of the forest. From our home we take you and your gear to the cabin via snow mobile and sled on a packed trail through the woods from behind our house or you could walk, snowshoe or ski in. To walk the packed trail would take about 35 minutes. When you are ready to leave the cabin, we will pick you up. Part of the winter rental is delivering you to the door, having the fire set for you in the morning before you arrive to take the chill out, as well as filling up the wood fired hot tub and setting the fire for you.
A few times in the winter there will be a couple of ice fishermen that will come in from the north end of the lake from another property and do some fishing, they stay at the far end of the lake, there is nothing I can do about this if it happens so dont be shy to go and check out their catch.....they have been know to offer a fish. Getting you there during freeze up and thaw....yet another element of adventure, typically mid November and mid March, depending on our unpredictable weather. When this happens we go around the lake. At the end of the lake where the water exits there is a small stream with a 16' foot bridge where you can cross onto the Deer Trail. This narrow trail goes along the lake, up and down to the cabin. I will let you know when this might be the case.
You would be all alone, in a log cabin by a crackling fire in the middle of the woods by the lakes edge..........in a wood fired hot tub or log sauna.... now how perfect is that!!!
If you want the "True Getaway" and dont want to leave the cabin the way you found it you can pay the $65 cleaning fee, otherwise set aside a couple of hours to set it up the way you found it. :)
Owners, Lucy Willemsen/Yachuk, Dwight Yachuk

| This cabin is truly magical! We are already planning our next visit. If we could have we would have chosen to stay forever. The Japanese soaking tub under the stars was a absolute highlight. The bird feeder near the tub presented a nice touch. Watching the chickadees and red squirrel's was entertaining. The sauna was a delight! We cant wait to experience that view from the sauna in the summer. It is like being a spa resort completely alone. By far our favorite spot was in the cabin by the wood stove looking out the big windows overlooking the lake. We spent one entire day reading by the fire. The entire cabin is incredible. Now on to the owners. What a lovely couple. Lucy we cant thank you enough for everything. It was a true pleasure meeting you and your husband. See you both next year

| Hello, If you are reading this review, it's because you are searching for what my husband and I have been searching for as well and we found it. Just days before we booked, he typed in the google search engine: Secluded, Private, On Lake Cabin - and "voila" up came this little gem of a Cabin beautifully nestled in Val des Monts, Quebec, not 30 minutes from our home in Gloucester which is important to us. Close to home but far enough away to feel like we have a little getaway. We have been back for almost a month now (got really busy) and I'm finally writing this because of my thanks and respect due to Lucy and her husband, Dwight. Everything on their website is well described and once you are there, you discover more joy and excitement because of the glorious natural beauty and peace due to all of the little things like the birds, the quiet, the well stocked kitchen & cooking accessories, clean linen supply, the romantic smell of the wood burning fire, and the happiness of just being away from it all. If you are thinking of booking, don't think anymore, just do it. You won't be disappointed. I promise. Enjoy. Best regards to all you future visitors, Karen and Eric Nanni. Don't forget to sign the guest book haha (we did) but we will be signing it some time again in January 2017.

| After about 5 years of dreaming we finally got to stay at The Lone Wolf Cabin. All that was promised in Lucy and Dwights rental was delivered with a great smile and truly welcoming arrival. We were delivered to the cabin door by sled and given a thorough walk through on all the necessary details. We felt totally comfortable when we found ourselves alone, surrounded by calm and silence in this little part of the Val De Mont forest! The weather for us held extreme temperatures, -30 but felt like - 40 with the wind chill. These were the coldest days yet of the season. Yet we did not feel the cold as the cabin wrapped us in its warmth and charm. We ate, we drank and we slept very well! How could you not in such a marvellously planned out retreat. The Japanese hot tub just brings a whole new pleasure to the experience. We sat out under the cold Canadian stars and talked of our great luck at getting to have such an experience! On our follow up trip, which we are planning, we will look to roaming the property and taking a turn at the sauna. It all still has so much to offer. We would very much like to try another season as well....to see what amazing things can happen at different times of the year. We thank you once again Lucy and Dwight in offering up your amazing creation for others to experience! Hope to see you again soon! Kelly and Cathy
