| Amazing cottage! Had everything we needed, beautiful view of the lake. We rented the cottage in February and it was super fun. Outdoor skating through the forest was 20mins away, ski hills close by and walking trails through Gatineau Park. Cottage was very cozy with wood stove and hot tub. We will be back and would recommend this place to anyone.

| My family with 2 young children enjoyed our week are sandy cove so much we are already planning our return for next year.
The cottage itself is well equipped. It has everything you'll need. We didn't need to pack as much as we did. Comfortable bedding, towels, all kitchen items, wifi and Netflix. The kids room even had toys and tons of books. There is a huge screened in porch that is almost soundproof from the rest of the cottage so we could stay up and laugh all night without disturbing the kids (and likewise in the morning they could play out there without disturbing us!).
The outdoors is really where it's at though. The lake is perfect. Warm and calm with a beach for the kids to dig in and collect rocks. We swam and fished and kayaked. We even found a small cave to explore and some marsh where we saw ducks, blue heron, turtles and gulls. There are very few people on the lake and even fewer motorized boats. It's as peaceful as they come.
The cottage has a nice fire pit overlooking the lake, a floating dock and a huge patio with a BBQ. There is even a fold out table and chairs that we used when guests came for dinner and we played famed on it in the sunroom.
Also there's a store 5 minutes away that has everything you could possibly need. Fresh fruit and veggies, meat and dairy, wine and beer, ice, fishing tackle... so convenient.
A perfect week.

| Another great week at Sandy Cove cottage. Pretty cottage, well located. Only half an hour to Ottawa's Byward Market. Kelly is on top on things, responding quickly to any request. Can sleep six comfortably. Appreciated the two kayaks and canoe, allowed us to explore this beautiful lake. Hopefully we will be able to return next summer.

| The lake is beautiful, the cottage is close to Ottawa so you can commute from work, and there are great amenities like kayaks, a canoe, washer and dryer, a large deck with parasol, and a screened porch. The front of the cottage is full of windows overlooking the lake and letting in the sun. Kelly and Brendan are very nice and helpful. We appreciated being able to bring our dog and cat who had a wonderful time. However, we had some unfortunate problems that marred our stay. The tap water was contaminated and smelled like swamp water. Although they tried to repair it the smell remained in the hot water. The roof of the screened porch leaked when it rained. And we got locked out of the cottage because the keycode lock needed new batteries. My 63 year old husband had to climb in through a bedroom window to let us in. The beds are good but the couches and chairs are very old with springs sticking out making them uncomfortable. There are old appliances tucked into the corner of the porch. The screens have holes so the bugs get in, especially if you leave indoor lights on in the evening. Compared with the average cottage you grew up with where your family shipped their old furniture and appliances this is about par for the course, but it is not as refined as you would expect for a rental and for that price. Overall, my holiday was a 7.5 on 10 because it was great to gather the family together and the lake is gorgeous but the tap water problem was a major issue that grossed us out.

Owner response: Thank you for your feedback Nicole. We appreciate your business and always welcome constructive feedback & suggestions. We have, & will certainly continue to correct any concerns brought to our attention. I must admit I was shocked by your overall rating, especially given your positive feedback and request to rebook with us next year. The water system does draw from the lake & is a common water system. The lake water entering the system is 1st filtered with a particle filter which then passes through a fine carbon filter, followed by a UV light to render the water potable. This is a high quality water treatment system. Guests don't drink the tap water as the cottage has a "Culigan style" water cooler for dispensing bottled drinking water. At some point during your stay, the intake valve on the lake pipe fell off, which allowed sand from the lake to be sucked into the pipe. The tap water was not "contaminated'' but did smell like unfiltered lake water. My husband responded immediately, discovered the fallen intake valve, flushed and repaired everything within less than an hour from receiving your text. When you locked yourself out of the cottage, I too responded immediately. Your husband did not need to climb through the window as I was on site within 10 minutes from receiving your text and there was a spare key on site. The screen, in the screened in porch has been repaired and patched. Thanks for letting us know. We repair them often, as pets jump up & rip them. Thank you. | |
