Queens Bay Hideaway is a rare private Kootenay Lakefront cottage as it is nestled at the end of a quiet no-thru road and does not share the property with any other residences. It is located at the sheltered Queens Bay which has the warmest water on Kootenay Lake and is only 30 minutes between Nelson and Kaslo just north of the Balfour Ferry Terminal. But don't worry about noise as you will only see the ferry when it is mid way across the lake and the cottage is well away from the roadway. The completely renovated 700 Sq ft cottage sleeps 5-6 people with two bedrooms including a Queen bed, two single beds and a futon sofa bed. There is a short, gentle sloped pathway that leads to the cottage from the parking area. People with mobility issues may find this difficult. Please ask us to send you photos of the pathway so you know what to expect. The inside of the cottage has plenty of natural wood accents and is bright with large windows looking out to the lake. The new large deck with patio table/ chairs and the sheltered BBQ area is a fantastic place to enjoy the vast lake and Purcell Mountain views with a morning coffee. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge, stove/oven, microwave and bottled water-cooler. There is a full bathroom with a large shower. Everything that you will need in the cabin is supplied including all bedding, linens and towels, TV, Blueray/DVD and WIFI and cell reception.
Spend your days at the beach with a swim dock and a campfire or head out and explore what the area has to offer. For day trips there are the heritage towns of Nelson and Kaslo with shops and restaurants that are unique to these towns and stunning views or take one of the worlds longest free ferry rides to the East Shore to find more one of a kind artisans and places to hike and explore. Ainsworth is a 20 minute drive and the beautiful Balfour Golf Course is an easy ten minute walk from the cottage. There is also cave exploring, fishing charters, hiking, mountain biking and zip-lining close by. An easy stroll along the trail that follows the beach from the cottage takes you to Balfour where you will find two pubs, a diner, bakery, grocery store with a liquor outlet and the ferry.
The rates shown are for the first four guests with an extra charge of $20 per guests per night after the first four. Everything you will need for a relaxing and carefree stay is provided as we have done with our other lakefront cabin in Kaslo (Kootenai Hideaway) since 2004. You can read reviews from our past guests at this cottage or the Kootenai Hideaway to feel confident we will provide a relaxing, clean and memorable accommodation.
Our other rental on this website is "Kootenai Hideaway" located north of Kaslo. Both are private, stand alone lakefront cabins and are one of a kind in this area as you have the entire property and beach to yourself. Please contact Darrell & Chloe with any questions about either cottage or the area and all of its activities and ask to have a copy of the Day Trip Distance & Activity package emailed to you.
Pets are considered with an extra charge of $20 per pet per night. There is a short, gentle sloping timber and gravel pathway to the cabin. Please let us know if you have mobility concerns and we can send you photos of the pathway for you to determine if there will be any accessibility issues for you.
If you are travelling to our mountainous area for a Winter adventure, it is recommended to have a 4X4 or all wheel drive vehicle and Winter tires with good tread depth.

| We had such a relaxing week at the cabin, exactly what we needed. Our dog loved being right at the lake and so did we. We loved being able to paddleboard whenever we wanted. The cabin has everything you need to have a nice time. We loved hanging out on the patio.

| If there were 10 stars this cottage would definitely get them all. It is very well equipped, very clean and the beds are fantastic. The location is beautiful but the only thing is getting down to the cottage from the roadway is difficult to maneuver particularly if you have some mobility challenges. I am sure with time the owners will have made changes to the walkway. I would highly recommend this cottage.

| I'm still daydreaming about this cottage a few days after leaving. It's the kind of place that you don't want to leave. Watching the sunset in the morning from the porch was the perfect way to start the day. We spent all day in the water or playing on the grass with the kids. At night the stars were absolutely amazing from the beach. It was a perfect family getaway and the cottage was very clean and functional. Darrell was also very helpful answering any concerns. Almost a perfect score, if it had a bathtub and soft sand (the rocks are hard to walk on and water shoes were needed). We will definitely be back to create more wonderful memories.

| This cottage was everything we had hoped for and more! Owners were wonderful to deal with and super accommodating. The cabin was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay, they really thought of everything. Views from the deck were just spectacular. The kids had a blast, and loved being steps from the water. This cabin truly is the prefect vacation spot, so relaxing and enjoyable! Highly highly recommend
