Booking now for summer 2021. Summer 2020 is all booked - winter inquiries always welcome!

Enjoy luxury in cottage country surrounded by nature and century old trees! Our 4 season SMOKE/VAPE FREE cottage is 1600 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, spotlessly clean bungalow with every modern convenience. It is situated in a peaceful setting on a private road, 30 feet from the water's edge on a gently sloping lot with only eight stairs to the dock! New for the 2020 season is a siingle/double bunk-bed in one of the bedrooms. The other three bedrooms offer a king and two doubles. SMOKING OR VAPING IS NEVER PERMITTED!

We are located on clean Salmon Trout Lake on a private gravel road which is 50 m from a gravel Township road. There's no traffic or road noise so your kids and dogs can play outside safely. We have easy year-round access which makes it possible to get to the cottage even in the winter. We're also fully insured AND all of the pictures on this site are current - in other words, the only surprises you'll have will be good ones! We cater to families, i.e. adults with kids, NOT to groups of adults.

Our waterfront on Salmon Trout Lake invites you to explore the outdoors. The lake is a natural Walleye hatchery which also has Small Mouth Bass and Sunfish, but nothing else. The lot is gently sloping with a sandy entrance to the water, perfect for beginner swimmers. You can swim to our water trampoline (where the water's depth is about 10-12 ft.) and practice your cannonballs (the trampoline will be taken out of the lake around Labour Day). The water gradually gets deeper as you walk out from the shore and offers excellent current-free swimming. The water's depth at the end of our dock (which was replaced in 2019) varies from about 4 ft in the driest of summers to a more typical 5-6 ft in most summers. Many guests enjoy shallow diving from the end of the dock or using the step ladder to gradually enter the water. There are some short weeds at the end of the dock, but not tall, lanky ones like some lakes have. The sandy, shallow entry is nice for toddlers and children where they can play or search for frogs and snails!

My husband and I stayed 5 wonderful nights at this beautiful cottage to relax after the busy Christmas season. First time stay and we know there will be many, many more. The owners were quick and easy to communicate with, answering my many questions (sorry, Liz - thanks for your patience). Pride of ownership was evident when we walked in the door. So clean and organized with lots of information provided. Beautiful view of the lake and lots of areas to walk around and explore. The weather wasn't top notch during our stay. There was a threat of an ice storm with possible power outages but we knew the back-up generator would keep us operational, if needed. During this time, we enjoyed access to the great satellite system available. The kitchen was a joy to cook in - knives were sharper than our own!!! I dare anyone to name one item that is missing from this amazingly stocked kitchen. Furniture was so comfortable and lots of room for quiet reading, foosball and the many games provided. The beds and pillows were super comfy. And, of course, the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Well maintained, roomy and so very relaxing on a wintry night. We've stayed in many rentals over the years but this one is at the top of our list. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage and ensuring your guests have a wonderful stay at Summerhill Cottage. We can't wait for a return visit. All the best for 2020, Liz and Ray.

Hi Carol,
Thank-you for taking the time to write such a positive, lengthly and detailed review! I don't think you missed mentioning any of the special features of our cottage that we provide and maintain so that every rental experience is a great one. It's very rewarding for us to rent to respectful people such as yourselves who are experienced renters and who recognize and appreciate our efforts. We look forward to hosting you again! Liz and Ray

We stayed at Summerhill cottage for Christmas with my family, what a beautiful cottage. We absolutely loved the place, everything you could possibly need was included. The kitchen was a joy to cook in, the hottub was so relaxing and the surroundings were beautiful. Liz was a great host and so very helpful- great communication, decorating the cottage for Christmas, providing tree stand and generously giving a welcoming gift. Thank you for helping us have such a magical Christmas.

Hi Adele, Thank-you for writing your review! We're delighted that you had a great time and that you all had time to relax while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. It was a pleasure being able to contribute to the Christmas spirit by putting up some decorations and providing a tree stand! Christmas is a magical time, and nothing can compare to spending it with your family in Ontario's beautiful cottage country. You were all very considerate guests and we hope you're able to visit again!

We had the most beautiful, relaxing, and memorable March Break at this cottage. We were able to cross country ski and snowshoe on the lake, go for long hikes in the woods, and enjoy the amazing hot tub. The view of the lake from the cottage and the view of the forest from the hot tub were breathtaking. The cottage itself is incredible. We enjoyed the gourmet kitchen, the comfortable beds, the foosball table, reading in the sun room and relaxing in front of the T.V. There was plenty of room for ourselves and 5 kids. Our hosts left so many personal touches, the cottage was incredibly clean, and we barely had to pack anything which made our trip so convenient. We were very lucky to spend a week there.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review! We're delighted that you had a great March Break with your family - we remember enjoying many spring breaks at the cottage with our kids when they were younger, spending time together outdoors and playing board games and cards in the evenings, or even having the occasional campfire in the winter! I'm also glad you noticed (and appreciated) the comfortable beds, the cleanliness of the cottage, and the convenoence of not having to pack much of anything. We hope you'll visit again!

This is the best place ever... We have stayed at several cottages over the last few years and this is by far the best... the pictures on line don't do it justice.
It has so many wonderful features: beautiful views of the lake, hot tub, gazebo, best stocked kitchen I have seen in a cottage, sparkling clean, comfy beds, pets are welcome, use of boats (canoes, kayaks and paddle-boat), gas fireplace, good fishing on lake, and amazing hosts. There is a reason you have to book this place several months in advance... it is becoming known as a wonderful place to have a relaxing and memorable vacation.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review Marilyn! Of course we love hearing that our guests enjoyed staying at our cottage, but it means even more to us to know that you are an experienced cottager and you think ours is the best! We also have stayed at many cottages and chalets through the years and have learned what works (and what doesn't work) in rental places. We try very hard to make it perfect! You were great guests, and we hope to see you again on the lake!

My husband, 2 adult children and family dog has a wonderful week at Summerhill cottage. Liz and Ray were excellent hosts and greeted us warmly upon arrival. We enjoyed the beautifully maintained and clean 4 bedroom cottage. WOW! Pride of ownership is abundantly clear!!! What a treat not to have to provide any linens or towels. My children managed to use all the equipment including the canoe, paddle board, kayak and trampoline. The kitchen was better equipped than mine at home. The view from the dock was mesmerizing and my favourite spot. We had campfires 5 out of the 7 nights! The wood, kindling and even marshmallows were provided. Our dog had the best time chasing chipmunks and frogs! I highly recommend this 5 star piece of heaven.

Thank-you for taking the time to write your review, Deb, and thank-you also for saying that my kitchen was better equipped than yours is at home :) Both my husband and I love to cook, and we know how frustrating it can be when you are away from home and planning a nice dinner only to discover that none of the knives are sharp or that there is no cheese grater, garlic press, or other essential kitchen gadget! So we take extra care to ensure that the kitchen has everything in it that a serious cook would expect. It also makes us happy to see guests using and enjoying the sports equipment that we provide. so we're delighted that your kids had fun as well! You were considerate and appreciative guests, and we hope to see you again on the lake!
