This is a very comfortable, large, and well-appointed cottage in a prime location. The place is clean, spacious, easy to live in. It has two separate sleeping wings each with its own washer-drier, and a common area between them with a big table for communal meals. There is one well-equipped kitchen, on one of the two sides, so the bedrooms on that side are right up next to the shared kitchen.
Ventilation is excellent so you can get good cooling cross breezes and if that's not enough there are fans in the bedrooms.
There's a big deck with lots of chairs and a nice big lawn for kids to play on. Our kids run around barefoot all the time without any problems. There's also a little fire pit.
The beach is amazing. There's no better stretch of open and unobstructed beach coastline in eastern Canada than the one running 5 km either side of Thunder Cove outside the parks, where you can't rent a cottage.
Ed is responsive and quick to deal with any issues that arise.
We've stayed here or the adjacent cottage three years running and will be back next year too.

The Sandcastle cottage that we stayed at was very spacious with numerous bedrooms , 2 fully equipped bathrooms and a large, very well equipped kitchen with a large eating counter and a large table that would sit at least 16 people. There were 2 separate sitting areas...one with a large tv and one with an assortment of games. The cottage was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The expansive beach was only a 5-10 minute walk over sand dunes, a wonderful meeting place for our extended family. This cottage is a hidden jewel and well worth our drive from Ontario

We had an amazing stay at Saltscapes! This place is not only really spacious for big family or friends getaways, but the indoor-outdoor dining area is the perfect place to spend evenings together eating seafood, playing games, and feeling the warm sea breeze pass through. A fantastic layout and had everything we needed. Plus so many places to relax with both front and back decks, two sofa areas, and even a reading nook under the staircase that the kids loved.
It's steps away from one of the best beaches we've ever seen! And there is so much to do in this area of PEI. The kids loved bridge jumping at Stanley Bridge, go karting at Burlington, and going to the arcade at Twin Shores Campground. And the adults picked up seafood at Basin View Seafood and loved the fresh lobster and mussels with a few cocktails, and adored the vibe at Island Stone Pub for dinner.

This cottage is perfect for a group, the host was really helpful, and we will definitely be back next year!!

Had a fantastic stay here! Incredible location - loved exploring Thunder Cove and had amazing meals, both cooking in the kitchen and around the island. (Definitely go to Richard's for the lobster rolls.) The house is casual, simple and has everything you need for a great time at the beach. We particularly enjoyed the indoor/outdoor dining area and slow mornings on the deck with our coffee :) Great place to stay and enjoy the beauty PEI offers!
