This is a three-storey, year round, lake-front log home in Gracefield, Quebec. It has three bedrooms, bathrooms on every floor, and is easily reached by vehicle year round. It is a quality build, with two large outside decks, and a large dock/sunbathing platform. It is well landscaped, on a terraced, quarter acre lot. The main floor is open concept, with a 30 foot ceiling peak (kitchen, living room, dining room). There is a utility room off the kitchen with a washer and dryer. Furnishings are quality on every floor, ceramic tiles on the lower level, red pine hardwood floor on the other two, lots of light, big casement windows, two field-stone fireplaces. There is Internet access and satellite cable TV. The water is newly upgraded and comes from the lake (spring-fed) which has received the highest ratings for its water quality. A large gas barbecue with burners, and a rotisserie, is on the upper deck with log furniture for outside dining.

The large log construction, with a field-stone covering all round the first storey, is warm in the winter, and cool in the summer, with nice breezes from the lake. Heating is from radiant floor heating. The log home has mature gardens with flowers from May through September.

The lake is very clean, spring-fed, and up to 150 feet deep. Swimming is excellent with diving off the dock, with very good fishing (especially bass). Water-skiing, canoeing, and kayaking are a joy on the lake which is surrounded by large, forested hills. There are only a few neighbors, who are very friendly and helpful. It is a low-key family atmosphere here on Lac Metayer. A hand-built cedar canoe is provided, with easy boat launching adjacent to the house. The surrounding forest is full of trails for easy, enjoyable hiking. The Cross Canada Bicycle path is 5 minutes away.

We had a marvelous stay at this cottage and would recommend it to anyone interested in a well-appointed kitchen, a well-built and spacious home, beautiful grounds and tranquility. Our stay was perfect and Jeannette and Ron were very helpful in preparing us, providing advice and so on. A highlight for us was the canoe which we used daily, and the firepit which we also used daily. What a gorgeous space!

Thank you Amanda for the review.

Hope to see you soon.

We were looking for a get away from the day to day routine and got what we hoped for. A beautiful chalet, on a nice property, and an awesome lake that is beautiful to swim in and to take a canoe and fish. Ron, the host, was responsive and arrival and departure were easy. Can't wait to go back!

Thank you Anne for your great review. Hope you can visit in the winter.

I have stayed at this cottage numerous times; in the summer and in the fall. I so enjoyed the view of the lake at all times of day but mostly as I was preparing meals. The lake is just the right size as it's not too busy and in the mornings and evenings was so calm. I went out numerous times in the canoe supplied. I got adventurous and went under the bridge which lead me to another lake. The mornings I enjoyed sitting on the bottom porch, sitting in the rocking chair with my coffee while my meals were taken on the top deck overlooking the lake.
The coziest time was when I had beautiful fires going in both fireplaces, in the fall, on nippy days. This cottage is easy to find and is perfect for me. I look forward to my next stay.
