Mazinaw Cottage Rental This beautifully appointed four-season cottage is superbly situated on beautiful Lake Mazinaw in Land o' Lakes cottage country near Cloyne, Ontario. An easy 3 hour drive from Toronto or 2 hours from Ottawa, this property provides the quintessential Ontario cottage life experience: start your day with a coffee and newspaper on the sunny deck, then enjoy swimming in the warm, clear waters of the Mazinaw, exploring the Lake's bays and inlets via kayak or canoe, work on your tan in the afternoon on the superb sunning dock, slide into the evening enjoying your favourite cocktails while watching a glorious sunset, show off your bbq skills and dine al fresco on the deck or 12-person picnic table, and finish the day roasting marshmellows by a campfire. Lake Mazinaw is a large lake (12 km long) so there's lots to explore, yet there is very little boat traffic meaning a quiet and peaceful environment where you can truly unwind and relax (you will NOT be listening to boat or sea-doo engines all day!) Lake Mazinaw is also home to Bon Echo Rock, a magnificent 2 km stretch of granite soaring vertically up to 100 meters straight out of the lake. Truly an awe-inspiring site to take in from a boat or canoe! Just above the water line there are close to 300 native pictographs from the Algonquin tribes that once called this area home. On weekends you can also enjoy the thrill of watching intrepid rock climbers scaling the face, or hike to the top yourself on the well-maintained trail and look out over the surrounding landscapes. The views are spectacular a different every season! The cottage property and surrounding area abound in opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors in whatever manner you choose; hiking, biking, golf, tennis, swimming, fishing or just enjoying the sun on the dock. Come and create your lifetime family memories! Cottage Interior
The 2500 square foot cottage comprises 3 floors: 1) a large basement area with 1 bedroom, a games area with pool table, ping pong table, foosball table and darts, and a small work out space with a treadmill, exercise bike and dumbbells 2) the ground floor with a mud-room/laundry area with a sink and washer and dryer, a powder room, the master bedroom with ensuite, and a large open living area comprising the kitchen, dining, and family room areas 3) the 2nd floor with 2 bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower, and a loft space with a sitting area and 2 single beds (Warning: any teenagers and/or children will quickly make the loft space their own!) The 4 large and comfortable bedrooms all have plenty of closet and/or dresser space, and 2 include magnificent views over the property to the lake. The master bedroom has a very large ensuite bathroom with 2 sinks, soaking tub and separate shower. The kitchen is modern and spacious, with a 4-element stove, oven, large sink, dishwasher and all the pots, pans, serving plates, and cutlery you'll need to create and serve your culinary masterpieces. The dining area and table can comfortably seat 8 (or in a bit of a pinch 10) for dinner. The family area has a soaring 18-foot timber-frame ceiling, large screen tv with cable, dvd player, and chromecast inputs so you can stream your favourite shows and movies, a beautiful brick fireplace, and a wonderful view out front to the lake. There is also a snug solarium-like sitting area at the back where you can enjoy a sunny morning coffee while watching the birds at the feeder. A Wifi network is accessible throughout the cottage. The front of the cottage boasts a large deck for outdoor meals or simply lounging in the sun. The whole layout is perfect for 1 large or 2 smaller family units; with 2 families 1 group could settle into the upstairs with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and the loft, while the second group takes the 2 downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms with everyone sharing the living space. For those groups with a couple looking for extra privacy, there is also a very comfortable 2-person cabin with a queen bed and small sitting area on the property that is available for an extra $200/week plus $50 cleaning fee.
Towels and bed linens available on request.
Cottage Property
The property boasts an outstanding 110-foot shoreline, with plenty of seating areas to enjoy the magnificent views of the south end of the Mazinaw. The swimming area is second to none and perfect for young or inexperience swimmers, with a sandy bottom and gentle gradient (50 feet offshore the water is 3 feet deep). You'll be able to relax in your Muskoka chair on the large sunning dock while keeping a close eye on children enjoying the water. The shore area has 2 seating levels and a campfire pit. The view from the shore is to the west and north, so in the evenings you'll be able to enjoy the glorious sunsets as you start the campfire up and get the marshmallows ready. Then as evening turns to night you can stare out at the Big Dipper and Milky Way, and watch the stars in their slow circle around the North Star. There are also kayaks and a canoe for you to enjoy. There is a large propane bbq and smaller charcoal grill available, and a 12-seater picnic table so you can enjoy both preparing and enjoying your dinners outdoors (there's even a very large rainproof umbrella available - converted from an old sun umbrella - if you insist on cooking outdoors whatever the weather!)
14-foot aluminum fishing boat with 2.2 hp motor available for extra fee. Boat cradle available for those with their own boats.
Local Amenities There is a wealth of local facilities/activities to keep you fed and entertained during your time at the Mazinaw, including the following:
Bon Echo Provincial Park - 10 minutes by car away (also accessible via a long kayak paddle) with a great public beach, hiking trails, boat rentals and wonderful views of Bon Echo Rock
Public tennis courts - 5 minutes way (we have Bjorn Borg era rackets in good shape you can use - bring your own balls!)
9-hole golf course - 10 minutes away (we have a couple of sets of clubs you can borrow if you don't bring your own)

A wonderful half-day trip should you feel so inclined would be to Potter Settlement Winery in Tweed, a 45 minute drive away. A relatively new winery, they have put a lot of effort into developing their acreage and the property is gorgeous. Well worth the trip! (https://pottersettlementwines.ca/)
There are various pleasant bike rides you can take in the area - we have a couple of bikes you can use if you don't bring your own.

| I would recommend this place to anyone for a beautiful getaway. This was my second time coming to this amazing cottage. I loved my first visit, and I'm so happy I came back for a second time. We only stayed the weekend, but I wish we could have spent an entire week. It's an amazing place for outdoor activities, all of us were able to go in kayaks, paddle boards and canoes for a little adventure on Mazinaw Lake. Just sitting on the dock and looking at the lake is a beauty in itself. It didn't matter if the day was rainy or cloudy because there is also tons of things to do indoors. We played pool, ping pong, darts, board games, etc.. The inside of the cottage is well taken care of, the decorations make the cottage feel warm and cozy. The rooms are gorgeous as well and convenient for large groups of people, we were 10 and there are plenty of beds to sleep comfortably. It is so easy to relax with all the comfy furniture. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Really handy to have a dishwasher as well. Check in and check out instructions were easy to follow. We arranged everything with Scott who was very attentive to our needs and was able to accomodate an earlier check-in time to enjoy the cottage as much as possible. Thank you so much Scott for making our stay at your cottage so enjoyable!

| Our family spent last weekend (September 8-11) at this cottage and it was an absolutely wonderful time! Everything needed to have a great time was there; very spacious cottage (we had a group of 8) with bedrooms and washrooms for all, fully stocked kitchen with everything needed for cooking all meals, beautiful waterfront (soft sand too!), ample equipment to be used (canoe, kayaks, etc.) but above all else just a terrific place to spend a Family Weekend at the Cottage. The Games room was amazing too with the Foosball and ping-pong table getting lost of use!
Dealing with the owner (Scott) was so easy and he was always quick to respond to emails when a question arose.
We have been renting cottages for our Family Weekend for about 8 years now and this was perhaps our best experience ever throughout the entire process (from booking in January to receiving our Security Deposit back within three days of our final rental day).
Would recommend this Cottage without hesitation.

| We had a small family reunion in late August at this cottage and it was absolutely perfect for group of 10 family members. There was plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable all day and night. Young and old had a beautiful time. The cottage is well fitted with everything you could possibly need, felt like home! The proximity to everything (groceries, pharmacy, amazing Bon Echo P.P.) was perfect. Communication with the owner was great as well -- no worries. We will definitely book again in the future.

| For many years I and 5 friends have been getting together from far and wide to spend a weekend together (tell all the same stories and make some up for the laughs). Scott's beautiful cottage on the Mazinaw was perfect. If you read all of the other reviews you will see how well equipped it is and the pictures on the website do not do it justice. Our stay, booked many months in advance was also impacted by the great May storm which had us without power for our first night - Scott was incredibly supportive and provided many options for us to consider to ensure we still had a wonderful time. (Try Addisons Pizza.....fantastic!). If you are looking to rent - stop here and contact Scott - but don't book our next weekend dates - we wish we could stay longer.

| We had a wonderful stay in early May at this beautiful cottage. The place is even more lovely than the pictures. Lots of space to spread out with a large group, comfortable beds, super kitchen, and great sitting areas inside and out. The lake is so beautiful. I wish we'd had more time. I highly recommend.
