Waterfront

Do you remember what going to the cottage was like when you were a kid?
Swimming, kayaking, hanging out on the dock, board games, campfires, reading and no TV? If that's what you're looking for, this is your cottage.

Lac Bernard is a beautiful lake, with many bays and islands to explore, and only 40 mins from downtown Ottawa. The cottage is situated on a point and southern facing, taking advantage of the sun all day long. The water is steps away, with a beautiful dock, floating raft and lily pad (floating pad) for the kids. There is also a canoe, aluminum boat, several kayaks and a paddleboat.

The main cottage is a cozy open concept 1950's log building with a kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 bedrooms + loft, and bathroom (no indoor bath/shower), as well as a separate bunkie for the kids to escape to. As the cottage is situated on a point, you have fantastic views of the water on 3 sides. The cottage is also at the lake level, so access to the water is very easy. There are lots of comfortable beds to sleep up to eight (8) people. In the photos, the grey building is the main cottage, and the red building is the bunkie

The cottage is connected to hydro and also has a backup solar system. Running water comes from the lake for the sinks, as well as a modern zero maintenance composting toilet. There is no indoor bathtub or shower, but there is an outdoor enclosed shower with hot and cold water.

Enjoy the sunsets and evening campfires overlooking the water. Great fishing (Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass) right off the dock, or out in the boat.

Loved our stay - what a beautiful spot on the lake! You are on a point so you could enjoy the lake from all three sides whether it was sitting on the dock or sitting by the fire in the evening. Jason was great to deal with, very organized and everything was as advertised. Our 4 year old grandson spent his week swimming, catching frogs, minnows and bugs, fishing off the dock, going for paddleboat and canoe rides - he didn't want to leave! The cottage has everything you need and the bunkie was an added bonus for our daughter's family to have their own space for sleeping. We would definitely stay here again.

What a beauty! Couldn't have asked for a better cottage than this - it has everything you could ever want and then some.

You are truly unplugged, but you're never bored: the swimming was wonderful (kids loved the slide!), the kayaking was unreal (we got to see turtles, deer, a beaver, and a bald eagle!) and the cottage was full of books and games for everyone.

Jason was so easy to communicate with and responded within minutes of the power going out during an intense storm.

Looking forward to Lac Bernard in 2023 :)

We were very lucky to be able to book this cottage last minute due to an unforseen cancellation. The owner was incredibly prompt with his communication and ensured that we had all the necessary information before heading up. The cottage itself is kept very clean and has everything you require, such as a well-stocked kitchen, linens, games and more. While other cottages are quite close by, it is very private due to it's location on the peninsula. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we look forward to returning in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this cottage. It has everything you may need for your comfort and enjoyment. The lake's water is clean and clear. The views from all cottage windows are great while preparing or enjoying meals. Jason is a wonderful host, and the directions and information provided were clear and easy to follow. He will ensure that your needs are met, and even contacted us to check that we were OK when a major storm hit the area. It is very relaxing to get off the grid for a period of time, and we certainly look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Jason!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first cottage outing of the year to Lac Bernard. Our host was very helpful and we arrived and set up without issue. The off the grid location has internet access through mobile but aside from this, it was fabulous to have the excuse to disconnect. The clean and rustic cottage was spacious with two bedrooms and pull out couches. And had a beautiful view of the lake from the expansive window. Situated on a point, the property has a 270 degree view complete with attached and floating dock. Canoes and kayaks were available. The lake itself is large; great for exploring. And it was a bonus to have Wakefield 15 minutes distant - great restaurants and boutique shops - visit Mouton Noir and General Store. Loved our stay and look forward to returning.
